    Default Satellite Imagery

Here's a site you can use to pull up satellite images of specific regions. It may be helpful in determining BEFORE you get on a plane whether a location is a park, private property, etc.

Plus it's fun to play around with - trying to find your home and such.

That's cool! I can even see my car! LOL
It's a pain to see around all the watermarks, though, and the subscription is a bit pricy!

Very cool! At the street level, I can pick out my house. However, if I try even one level of zoom, it's just empty lots! Hmm... the house across has a pool

You should be able to see a date the image was taken somewhere on the top. On that link the image for our neck of the woods says Sep 2002. The house I live in was brand new in March 2002....the back yard wasn't even fenced yet. So that's what I see in the image.

Here's one that doesn't have the watermarks on it and has some brand new images -- but not MY street -- actually May 2002 for my area. But worth bookmarking as well. Like Globe Explorer, it shows the GPS coordinates, as well.

This is a good national mapping site. You can see state parks and some regional parks.

Beware most map data is old (1 -2 years) unless you go to an individual county GIS site.
