    Default If anyone is interested

Is there anyone still interested in this hunt? If so, I will post some things I have come up with...which may, or may not be helpful.

Yes, folks are still interested. Just stymied!

alright, I'll post the first thing I see real quick before I have to go to work here...what do you think of this possibility...if you take the first four letters from the first stanza of the poem (using the words Although, Low, Tomorrow, and Over), you get the word ALTO, which is a city approxamately 9 miles east of Grand Rapids Michigan. I live in Grand Rapids, right next to Alto, so it was the first thing I caught.

I had seen that and dismissed it as a coincidence because none of the other verses can be treated that way. But if there is a real Alto next to Grand Rapids, perhaps it ought to be reconsidered! Good point.

After looking over everything several times, I am wondering if there are two parts to this puzzle. The riddle, obviously, is one part of the puzzle, and the other may be a map that is suppose to be "constructed" from what we see either in the book, or with something that at least existed in a location in 1982. To me, it looks like the riddle is suppose to get us to a general location (while some of the riddle stanzas may show how to put the map together), and the map is suppose to make the location exact (the riddle gets you to the point of a 'needle in a haystack', and the map makes it exact). Does this seem to be a valid theory, or is this theory a large stretch?

Every theory is valid at this point.

A couple minor things I see at this point...

"If your clock stops" - could refer to the saying that if "Even a stopped clock is right twice a day"

"In the rain, wind, or snow" - could refer to the saying that "neither rain, nor wind, nor snow...shall prevent these carriers..." Possibly that a post office is in the area, or the map is suppose to direct you from a mailbox. If it does not refer to that phrase, it could suggest that the apple is in an area that has these weathers (which would rule out any location in the US that does not have snow). The other possiblilty is that this refers to the Post Office Box where the solutions were suppose to be sent.

I ended up going to the downtown Grand Rapids post office today to get some mail (where the post office box was held). Unfortunately, I did not have time to ask any questions about the post office box, however, I did drive down the road about a mile and came across a park. Ah-Nab-Awen Park..."Once the site of a Native American village...The name, Ah-Nab-Awen, was proposed by the Elders of the Three Fires Council and means, Resting Place." ("Before you decide to exit and rest"?) Probably just a coincidence, but I found it interesting, non the less.

    Default Alto Agreed

I must have missed this thread. I completely agree that ALTO is important. However, I do not believe it is Michigan we should be looking at.

Originally, when I began looking into this hunt I noticed Alto as well. The odd capitalization of Sun and East leads me to believe SE is also important. Like always, I put it on the back burner for a bit and began looking elsewhere.

One day while deadending another Cassiopeia thought, I started to wonder if it was just something simple. I had originally been attempting to connect places in the W pattern. Anyways, I had this thought. Cassiopeia = W; look for a W state.

This would actually narrow it down a lot. Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. I couldn't get to google fast enough.

Low and behold, Alto, Wisconsin. In the Southeastern portion of the state none the less. Could this be our starting point?

It is definitely possible. You can play out the directions. I agree with "free whey" and a lot of the mileage direction posted by Pinetree.

The one problem with this hunt is I believe you may really have to follow the trail to know you are on the correct path. I suppose there are more confirmations that could be hit upon on the net. It is a bit hard to speculate but I think I may jump back into this one for a bit.

I like that thought process Fenix. Lady Cassy is definitely needed somehow and you make her work.

It will be hard to follow the path via the internet but not impossible. Lets see where we end up, shall we?

.........time to add a DAR ring to my collection.........
