    Rewand:

Jef Raskin did indeed marry Linda S. Blum in 1982.

    Other interesting tidbits:
Children--Daughter Aenea Hannah (1992), Daughter Aviva Frieda (1987), Son Aza Benjamin (1984)

Jef Raskin was a writer. He also taught art from 1970-1974 at UCSD.

Maybe this is a little far-fetched, but to me, the name Kaskgn looks a lot like "Karen Wagner"... it starts with Ka, and ends in "gn", which is found in Wagner... just sayin'.

Default E-Mail Reply From Linda Blum

A while ago, I sent an email to a member of the Raskin family asking if Jef Raskin was the author of "The Golden Apple Tale". I recently received a reply from Linda Blum. Her e-mail as follows:

Thank you for your inquiry about the authorship of The Golden Apple Tale. It sounds like an interesting book but it was not written by my late husband, Jef Raskin. Jef never lived in Michigan, Texas or Wisconsin. He was originally from New York and attended SUNY-Stony Brook and Penn State University before moving to California.

Any works that were published under a pseudonym were humorous poetry, music or essays.

I was pretty convinced of the Apple connection as well (and it still might be another employee we don't know about), but after the research saying it wasn't Jef Raskin, I went page 30, and pulled out all the letters marked by commas, periods, special punctiation characters and the like, shuffled them up a bit, and got:

    "Lit Mystery Chase by MIT"

. . . which (if anything close to the truth) could very well mean that the hunt is still on, and just deeply unsolved -- not abandoned.
I originally wanted to do "Where it all went wrong", but 5 days later, this topic nicely dove-tailed . . .

According to dx1mx2, through correspondence with the author years ago he learned Cam Kaskgn is a substitution of the author's real name. (1) 2nd letter is most likely a vowell, (2) the 1st and 4th letters of the surname are the same, (3) estimation of the author's age is 52-55 years old.

Bud Hughes is an example of a normal sounding name that fits the criteria. I wonder how many others exist.
