Default Is anyone still working on this? I have some answers

If anyone is working on this I have what I think is the answer. I emailed the partial answer to Jef Raskins son (yes, I am convinced he wrote it) and it was returned, then I forwarded that to a family friend of theirs. So far no reply. I realize that I won diddley, but I was pretty excited to have figured out what the answer was.I will be more then happy to point you in the right direction. I am pretty computor stupid and have a ranch full of animals, but will answer as time allows. Just to start--there is a reason it says a twelve year old could figure this out. I don't know any that would bother, but think back to what you were learning in grade school. I am no good at these mysteries but what peaked my interest was why this stupid story was over twenty years old and no one had solved it. When you get the answer you might kick yourself. Got to run more later, goatlady

Hi Goatlady, and welcome to Tweleve!

I took a look at this a few months ago and worked some of the puzzles - would be interested to hear what you have come up with so far.

    Thanks

    Steve

    Default Hi Steve

First, let me say I never would have gotten anywhere with TGAT if not for the internet. I learned all I could about Jef Raskin and that is what started me on a different path then most. He was an incredible man with many talents. One of his talents was artist. Which begs the question, why use someone else to do the drawings? Well I figured he wouldn't, so there had to be a reason he would put the name there. I set that aside. He was a teacher and played with words. The first tricky thing that caught my eye was the initials-KLW. Sound it out. On page 6 the verse about using a shovel. To me it meant use a different tool or method This verse goes along with several others to point you in the right direction. You didn't think I was going to hand you the anwer did you? With the right "tool", the "8 states" on the map page makes sense. Another thing I found out at the end was just about everything has two or three uses. Later, goatlady

    Hi Goatlady,

I have been working on this. I believe I also know where the solution is. I have searched a park and found a tree stump with the initials JR carved in it. However, I am not convinced that Jef Raskin is the author.

I am not sure where the golden apple would be buried. The park has a trail that loops very much like the golden apples' chain. There are also many rows of pinetrees.

If you make 10 post you can send me a PM.

    Good Luck,

    Default different paths

I certainly respect your opinion, as I said I am not good at these puzzles. I just got a different answer then you. In the end the answer (mine)tells you where the apple is. Gosh it's early!

    Default hint

It's fourthirty in the morning so I have a minute. No questions? Ok here is a big hint. The whole thing is one BIG anagram. Not just a few words. A few things will get you going in the right direction. Page 3. Spell out the words under the picture. Find a place. Keep the remainder letters, you will need them later. This took me weeks to figure out, later, goatlady

    Hi Goatlady,

Congrats on your solve. Are you referring to page 3 with a photo of a golden apple trinket? Approx. 92% Actual size. Is this the page you are talking about? The photo is too dark for me to make out anything, so the only caption under this picture is about the size. Please clarify if I am on the right track.

    Thanks

    Steve

    Default Yes, that's the one

You are correct. It is the words you need, the picture is really dark for me too. Make sure you spell out the whole caption. Play with it awhile and you should come up with a location. You will have a few letters left, but don't lose track of them. You will use them by the time you are done.Let us know what you come up with, goatlady

    Hi Goatlady,

I sent you a PM with the several city names I came up. When you get a chance, take a look and see if I am on the right track.

    Thanks

    Default cities

Hi there, don't worry about the "apple" part. The answer will be a city AND state. Now what state has a Z? This is just a very small part of the whole thing.Later, goatlady
