Hmm. I'm caught up with reading all the TGAT threads. Lot's of food for thought. Who's all interested in this hunt?
-
Earlier this month I took up investigation in my usual outside the box dart to the map fallacy faux pau ala mode annoy everyone by starting a new thread with "what if it was in Oregon...".
I think I've miraculously nailed something of potential.
On January 1st, 1855, a schooner was christened "Morning Star of Tillamook".
In 1888, the Headlight-Herald newspaper was founded.
In 1894 McIntosh and Townsend started the Tillamook Cheese Factory, a successful dairy products business that shipped it's products nationwide.
In 1959, a functioning replica of the original ship was built, the "Morning Star II". It delivered 6 tons of cheese to Portland.

Some paranthetical thoughts:
Although the Sun rises in the East (focus on the west coast?)
Low lands will have frost (location is situated on the west side of a ridge: Cascade Mountain Range?)
Tomorrow is another day (day of a new month, and/or a new year: January 1st?
Over and over again (mayday distress: shipwrecked?)
If your clock stops, (calendar measures time, calend- end=stop, ends Dec 31st)
Watch someone elses. (Egyptian?, based on Venus)
Hands are helpful, (for counting? For digging?)
But a shovel works best. (the plough, the BIG DIPPER?)
Chose a City, then proceed to this rhyme,
Miss Muffet’s meal didn’t cost a dime. (dairy and money. DAIRY RELATED BUSINESS)
Travel 3 leagues plus 2/3 more west, (11 MILES)
Before you decide to exit and rest. (decide, among options = lots. Rest = park. PARKING LOT)
-
More:
In your quest,
Do not rest long.
Your hunt ends,
Where your return begins. (go to the end of a path or trail)
Seek a presage (warning. Watch your step or you might trip and fall?)
to give you a clue.
Three are 2’s and
Two are 3’s. (Steps?)
Some trees have leaves,
And some have needles,
At this point in time,
They all look like hay stacks. (they: several arch or rounded shaped objects)
That which
you’ve seen to be so,
Use a map (utilize a visual guide for reference)
In the rain, wind, or snow. (Post officer creed: messenge, signal)
Your Quest draws nearer
So don’t get to smart. (bright)
In order to retrieve,
You must first construct. (Build. Overlay. Align)
From the remainder, (divide)
Locate the Omphalos. (stone of significance, context with Greek myth)
Man has two feet,
So look that far down. (height based on feet)
Graviety is important,
So don’t treat it lightly. (something heavy)
A car has two headlights, (horizontal-parallel)
Discard the two dimist.
Friends are caring, (inclination, bias, 45 degrees?)
But gossip will spread. (stories, rumors, buzz)
Don’t let it bother you, (insect, buzz?)
or go to your head. (buzz...haircut) TELEPHONE?
-
Reconsidering: surely rumors, bees, and heads of hair all BUZZ, but "friends are caring," doesn't buzz...
Friends are caring, (support, call or send flowers, get wells, congrats, etc...)
But gossip will spread. (stories, rumors, buzz)
Don’t let it bother you, (insect, buzz?)
or go to your head. (buzz...haircut)
Perhaps the key is in a homophone BUZZ = "to drink", (although it pertains to alcohol, perhaps this means to drink from anything, like a fountain or well) a WELL of wishes?
-
neglected to mention BUZZ could be a loose homophone for BOOZE or BUS.
-
1979 AT&T slogan: Reach out and touch someone = friend show they care by picking up the phone?
-
I believe the Omphalos is 1) a holy stone, or a stone having a large hole in it, or 2) a situation where the stone in question is obscured or "swallowed" by something else, or 3) positioned in such a way that it is in the "mouth" of something, like a rock at the mouth of a river.

a line that goes through exactly 8 states. It's actually a difficult puzzle accounting for projection and curvature.
