    Default Now Accepting Nominations ...

Now that we're getting some kind of validation from Stadther about the answers to certain clues, destructo and I thought this forum might be a fun addition. Consider the Hall of Fame a way for us to give some our sharpest treasure hunters the credit they deserve, a reminder that despite all the frustration we really are making progress, and, of course, a counterbalance to all the turkeys that have been bumped in the Hall of Shame.

I'll post my nominees in separate threads. For now, I suggest that we limit the back-patting to just those solutions that have been confirmed by the author -- or by another clue in the book. In retrospect, all these THIRTEEN clues were obviously reinforcing each other. We can safely assume that other clues in the book will work the same way.

Personally, I think that FRSTPRZA (aka Denise) should probably get a crystal medal the size of China for finding the first substantive clue (NEAR THE OVERLOOK), but until we get some kind of confirmation we should probably hold off on adding these kinds of solutions to the Hall of Fame.

Of course, feel free to nominate people for other things, if you like (Best Brownies: Cat957?, Best Media Coverage: destructo?). Should any of you People Magazine readers want to nominate me for "Sexiest Treasure Hunter Alive," I won't complain.

I'd definitely have to nominate Doc - the guy never gives up trying new things and he's always willing to share. He(she?) should win Mr. (Mrs.?) Tweleve.org 2005!

i would second that nomination. Doc never fails to get me looking at things in new and thought provoking ways.

if i had to place a bet on who might find one first, it would be Doc.

I agree --- Doc's sequencing "solutions" are excellent.

For another nomination, although we do not know if this is true yet --- I believe it was PineTree who originally figured out that "not whole" is "knothole."

While I was a close second, Pine Tree beat me to the "there are thirteen" puzzle solution on P. 77, so he gets my vote.

You're right, Fenix. I initially thought NEAR THE OVERLOOK was first discovered by FRSTPRZA, but upon double-checking the old Q4T thread, I see that Pine was indeed the first to spot it:

I don't have my book or notes with me at the moment, so I can't say which page this is, but if you go to the one with the hidden text of "NOTHING TO BE DISTURBED THRU THE LANDS", you will see a series of dots and dashes on the inner border. If...
    - red dots separate letters, and
    - the light green sections are dots and dashes, and
    - you start at the upper left corner, then you get....

    ..."near the overlook"...

...plus one pattern at the very end that didn't match the rudimentary Morse guide that I had.

Sorry for getting that wrong before. Has anyone else figured out yet who was the first to post the THERE ARE THIRTEEN phrase? I know Pine_Tree was the first to offer up the method for folding the page, but there are definately posts before his that reference the phrase.
