I would like to open up a discussion about ads so I can understand why they are there.
Yes, I donated to tweleve several times so I didn't have to view the ads while I was surfing the forum. I like this community and I can afford to donate. Instead of spending it on something I regret I just spend it here. And I can certainly understand a members inability to even donate $5, ever. I've been in that financial situation before and worked hard to climb out of that. I also know that just working hard isn't the only part of the equation. Luck comes into play too. It is not necessary for anyone to have to reveal that they haven't donated or that they cannot afford to.
How does this work? Do the companies pay a set amount per year, or pay each time an ad is clicked? If it's the latter I couldn't imagine that very many ads have been clicked.
Will my small donations thru the year actually put a dent in the cost of keeping this site up?
Would it kill us to click on an ad only once each time we log onto tweleve? Especially if it pays the bills? It could become an easy habit.
Can you explain how it works cthree. This is a subject we all should be aware of. If we like being a part of this community we should know what you need from us to belong and keep it running. Not too much is free in this world, and what may be free to a twelever is not free to you. And if clicking an ad pays that bill, why not click it then close that window? In good conscious I have clicked an ad now and again even after donating. Let me tell you. It is far easier than participating in my kids school fundraisers! Click it and close it.
So. Now that there are no ads. Will Tweleve always be around? I really, really don't want this to cause the eventual demise of Tweleve.org.
Someone enlighten me.
