Question Are there any prizes for "The Secret: A Treasure Hunt" puzzle?

Hello Everyone,
My interest armchair treasure hunting started with Dr. Crypton's, "Treasure: In Search of the Golden Horse" from the early 80's. I studied the golden horse puzzle for the entire 4 years it was active. I had narrowed the dig location to the town where the prize was buried. Not enough detail for me to have gone there.

I have been working on Alchemist Dar for a few months, and The Whistle Pig, which I just started. I found "The Secret: A Treasure Hunt" while doing a search of treasure hunt puzzles, on the web. Is there a prize rewarded for solving "The Secret: A Treasure Hunt" puzzles? I read that the editor, Byron Priess, was killed in an accident in 2004. From what I understand, he couldn't produce the gem for the second solution in 2004. Possibly, after all that time, he assumed the remaining puzzles would not be solved and liquidated the prizes.

Preiss was killed in an auto accident, true. But both casques found have been awarded the gems that go with them.

Those are the only prizes for the puzzle. 12 casques were buried with keys inside and the keys were to be redeemed for actual gems--depicted in the images in the book. Two were found, two were awarded. Then Preiss died, and nothing has been found since--and nothing, therefore, has been awarded since. There are people who are still in contact with his widow, but I don't know if anything will actually be awarded if found. The book was published in 1982, the last gem was found in 2004. I think it might be safe to assume that if you find a casque, you'll get the key inside, the casque itself and the glory--and probably nothing further, unless BP's widow wants to give it to you. Nothing to my knowledge has been "liquidated". It's been 25 years since the book was published. No announcements or contact has been made since 2004.

This information (and more) is available on the Quest 4 Treasure forum. Google for the address and sign up if you're interested in participating.

Arrow image #11 response

The claw of the bird resembles the curved peninsula of Massachusetts. I seem to be drawn to Provincetown close to the end of the peninsula. Each puzzle seems to point to a landmark this maybe it. The Pilgrim monument appears to resemble the buildings on the box being held. It is also very high with a great view of the area. This could be represented by the rays emitted from the box. I see 42 on the right bracelet for 42n. A 7 scratched on the arch of the round window just right of the star and a 0 at about the eleven oclock position for 70w. 42n 70w are the approximate coordinates of this area. The 6 on the bracelet may be a clue to the route 6 that runs the length of the peninsula.

Does anyone know this area? If so, there could be other landmarks in this area that can be related to image #11.

Gold Bug, I would urge you to please read the back posts in the thread on this and the other images. Almost all of what you said above has been debated, and has been fixed just a little more accurately. Most of the activity in this hunt is on another forum: the Quest 4 Treasure forum. There you will find a lot of information, including the fact that the claw on the bird does not resemble the Massachusetts peninsula, and that the correct coordinates for this image are 71 and 42--which fix the image in Boston Massachusetts. There is a lot of debate going on there at this time for this image and the verse associated with it: verse 3. There are a couple of people on that forum who do live in the area. I really urge you to look over there, and to read through what has been done on it first, becasue you may run the risk of no one answering your posts or questions because they've answered them so many times before. I love Tweleve, but the action on this hunt is really heavy at the other forum, and the work is valuable.

here's the address for the other forum. You'll need to register there. http://www.quest4treasure.co.uk

For the record, I don't think there is a #71 in this image. I think the number "24" stands for the death of someone.

Does anyone else think that Image 3 and Image 11 reference each other in the pictures?

mlssry,

I think I have a link with Paul Revere in Copley Square. There is a statue of John Singleton Copley (for whom the Square was named) and Copley was an artist. I looked up some of his work and one of his more notable pieces (i think) was a portrait of paul revere. Also Paul Revere's house is in Boston about a 30 minute walk from Copley Square in the North End. And for the last line I was thinking of the 'Freedom Trail' which passes by Paul Revere's house. Just a few ideas.

Default Any one in Southern Michigan want to combine thoughts?

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I have been on this site, I am from the old ATT days. What fun those days were. Well, maybe not for my family, since I dragged them across Michigan 7 to 8 times. lol Just the mention of the name Newaygo State Park is enough to send everyone running. lol

Anyways, I came across the site and started exploring "The Secret" and especially image 11, because of the possibility of Detroit. I have come up with some things I would like to share with someone who wouldn't mind searching a bit. I live in Northern Michigan and have an unreliable car at the moment, and I don't dare ask my husband to travel 4 hours in a rickety car to maybe find a 30 year old buried treasure, in which that the owner has died and the casque could have possibly decomposed to nothing and also being in a spot where it could have easily been dug up by someone else, if you know what I mean.

So If someone has an open mind, some free time, and would be able to easily travel the southern half of Michigan, pm me and let's talk.

My book should be coming in the mail soon so that will be a plus.

Thanks,
Mommaegerer
