Let's not forget that Sanborn had a "civil engineer" for an accomplice.

    Dig This:

If we take that particular triangle shape and spin it around, we get a dodecagon:

I'm not even going to bother to discuss the math of it because most 6 year olds have it pretty well mastered.

    In this form:

    or like this:

    Or even this:

Reading K2 from in order of Jan to Dec. gives 24 letters:

    FLMVXEVQSDQLDUZUGCZRHMJW

Or perhaps we need to look at the middle phase dates, since that is halfway between the absence of light (new moon) and subtle shading (the pale full moon).

OK, I love that idea you had about the moons, and I'm going to check that out. I may just drop all of this.

    but...

To clarify, Like an astronomical clock, I am speculating that we may be able to place each section into it's place on a big circle. I think when we finally reveal the unmasked "real decryptions" we will have text strings representing the days between the corners. This may be meta-stuff: i.e.:what we do with the sections when we eventually find them (), and under my theory, reorient them using a circular calendrical context. This creates a unique circular alphabet similar in theory to an Alberti disk. Each day of the target year can be mapped to a unique character, and as you pointed out, something like the lunar cycle or something else can than extract letters. Another thing about the moon would be if waxing instructed us to add something, and waning periods to subtract something.

Anyway, I want to stay on topic. I'm looking at that idea you suggested.

But before I go, here's the part where the worst pirate in the world ends up sailing off in the Interceptor.

November 22 and March 20. The Abscissa of the calendar. You have deduced on November 22 it instructs us to count 63 "days" which are actually letters, away from these central points. There are therefore 4 strings total in the year, but March might be 15 away according to the logic that resulted in "63". Your chart with a numerical representation exposed something to me about K2's potential masking agent. ASCII.

ASCII has 126 characters. Non numeral, non-control characters start at #63 with "?". 64 is "@", and 65-90 are the capital letters. Wouldn't you know it? The lower case letters start on 97 and go to 122!

I speculate that this not only tells you where the real sections are and where to get the keywords, but it also provides it's own self extracting mask for the plaintext.

Next we place these four unmasked, and intermediately deciphered strings on a circular calendar such as the type I have suggested. Get a good shape. Then maybe, just maybe, tesselate a little bit.

    ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED???

Because that funny looking blotch on the wall behind the sculpture near the "other" lodestone is definitely a bench mark. And the other "benchmark" over by the duck pond. And that third one too, that's a biggie.

I havent heen able to jump aboard the ASCII. I see the potential to expand a set of letters including the ? symbol into a series of digits. It seems unlikely when I think of the bulkiness.

OK. We'll table the survey for now. You have to admit the sheer impossibility of coincidence, K5 is likely to remain a mystery.

So I thought about your lunar ideas and I came up with this, which is strictly speculation. Allow me to paint a picture. We have been told symbolically through the keywords that the abscissa between light and dark is a grey area, and to highlight the significance of this misty area to "hidden information" he misspells illusion- again in reference to this same "mid" area. You are looking for a method to either rearrange the text we have by some method, or perform some sort of additive or subtractive procedure to these two reflected areas, right? If we were on the moon, on the equinox the earth would be half full. In the following picture I present a possible scheme for you in very few words:

Notice that the moons phases are two basic shapes: A crescent shape, or a circular shape. They follow a quartile division of waxing and waning between these two shapes, divided by the the symbolic antipodes, the half moon, and the silent moon.

Notice how in each lunar cycle we have have two half moons that face each other. The divide the Octagonal division of phases into halves, of which the new moon (in Latin: Novilunium, or Luna Silens) belongs to the half of "crescent" or "horned" moons (Latin: Corniculata). The Silent moon's antipode is the full moon (Latin: Plenilunium).

Notice how according to 14 day rows, we now have row labels that in Latin could be marked (P)lenum, and (C)orniculata?

Too coincidental again methinks. The game is a foot!

After you compose your ideas a bit, I want to talk about 1776 specifically.

But I don't want to clutter the commonplace at this particular moment.

I think P is only meant as plaintext and C for ciphertext. I like the number 14 as a way to transpose a calendar so the moon phases line up as columns.

    1776 has room for discussion.

With respect to the calculations of angles and sun position, I'd like to think we should avoid anything that involves math beyond doing modulo 26.

    OK 1776.
[I should confess, that the numerology of 888 x 2 = 1776, and the relationship of "time" as interval, has deep personal significance to my personal views on theology. In music, there is something called the mathematical scale. It just exists, and it's not like the "magnetically" altered tempered scale given by Bach. I get this right from Pythagoras. (values in Hz) E=111,F=222,G=333, etc till D=777. Then the Octave is 888Hz, which is E again, and the scale repeats at a higher frequency. Symbolically, Mankind travels through these same scales through time: the duration of the cycle of ages is 1776 years- a waxing cycle of 888 years, and and a waning cycle of the same. At a personal level, humanity often symbolizes this epicyclical transition in anthropomorphic terms- and mythologize a symbolic candidate who sacrifices himself in altruistic protection of his extended family, and is then ressurected, ushering in the new "covenant". This "story" element provides the means by which the rest of society is "elevated" into the next cycle, one at which we are all now symbolically divine. Okay, so having admitted my Hermetic leanings, and my foundations in numerical mysticism, I note the following:

    1776.

The Calendar above is accurate for the Moon quarters, and the days of the week.
Next post (to break up the material somewhat, for dialogue) I will talk about some of the elements which I believe Kryptos may be using as a Masking/Matrix transformation agent.
