    Default Looks like a calendar...

There's something very subtle going on here. See if you can figure out what I've done,

    Clarification:
    1) how is the red block derived?

    2) why are some squares green?

    3) the 11 light blue blocks?

    4) that dark blue block?

    Thanks for the support D!

No, the equinox isn't what I think this concerns. The red square is the letter which represents the only misspelling in the code block. This follows the example of what happens in the K1 code block which also had exactly one misspelling. By this method of organizing letters to a calendar, that position results in the same date that identifies exactly with the Nov. 26th journal entry date for the content of K3. This leads me to the conclusion that the calendar method is meaningful and so the question of Sept. 22nd becomes one of great interest. The implication is that it concerns K4.

This gives some background and answers question 2:

It is known that K2 has 373 characters. Exactly 365 characters contribute in a primary way to the decoded message. The 8 remaining characters contribute in a secondary way, 3 are punctuation, and 5 are "stops" or separators. I make the assumption that these are non-essential and may be removed. The green blocks are the locations where the non-essentials are cut away like frames in a film reel and spliced with the next adjacent frame. Who knows, maybe this is why the keyword to solve this block is ABSCISSA.

Ooh, just noticed I might parse the characters as dates differently. Why not go sequential? That would make HQRLGTVFPJU the letters that would contribute to K4's masking of BERLINCLOCK.

Okay, here's what I'm toying with:

The dates Nov 25th to Dec 5th are 64-74 days past Sept. 22nd and the dates July 10th to July 20th are 64-74 days before Sept. 22nd.

Think of Sept. 22nd as the midpoint of a fold. The letters HQRLGTVFPJU layer with FDTNWPFUFBK.

    Erexere,
I think you really have hit on something here, and I think we can tie together some thematic elements of the sculpture. I come from CT and Sep 22 is well known to everybody around here. In 1776 our state hero was hanged. Nathan Hale, the first star on the wall at CIA. His bravery and grace galvanized the cause, and the British, convicted and humiliated in their own eyes by their own deed, in effect, surrendered the war on moral grounds. 35 years later the same thing happened at the Battle of Stonington in the war of 1812 because people around here didn't forget Hale's message. And again, the British lost the will to fight when they realized that "victory" was simply impossible against a foe who holds the moral and ethical high ground, and will willingly die to the last man, woman and child, rather than yield it.

So, we have Nathan Hale, at Langley, he is symbolically on the other side of the courtyard, one vertex of a triangle that includes the wAvY scroll, and the duck pond, as the other vertices. So WW, or "they", "buried it undergrUund" at the coordinates, which also line up with (i never been there but I think where) the Nathan Hale statue is. Parsing: "the key is buried with Nathan Hale" - get it? "The key is encoded by the date of his death", his positional coordinates in a calendar system!

So, I bought into the calendar idea months ago, and you and I have refined it many ways, but now I want to connect the misspellings as a possible marker. Maybe the cooincidence of this misspelling falling on that date was a clue for us to use the misspellings as a marker for our origin. Count |63>?| from this spot. It's the "you are here, now" on our "map"

Like some of my BERLINCLOCK in cribbing revealed to me, I'm not 100% sure we have completely unmasked the text yet though. We have a thematic consistency in that in our case Sep 22, 1776 is "an Abscissa" between a calendar past and a calendar future. Here's where I want to tie in the notion of Equinoxes and Solstices. September 22 also happens to have been the Autumnal Equinox in 1776.
Whatever the mask, it should be consistent with "counting days" and I speculate, that it's basic and simple math. It may be coincidental to Hale, but all the more so a clue because of that very property. Like 1922 with K3. That number must be around a reason.

Exciting stuff E. Tidying up some ideas to contribute soon.
