Cthree and I discussed this over the weekend. We will be setting up Kryptos as a Puzzle under "Other Hunts" hopefully in the next day or so.
Whatever I feel like I wanna do. Gosh!

I can suggest some subforums. The Kryptos sculpture involves several different pieces of artwork, not just the big copperplates with the cutout letters. There are a few elements surrounding the plates that may or may not have significance: the petrified wood, the white stone, the reflecting pool. But there are other elements sitting in the same courtyard at CIA all installed by Sanborn as part of Kryptos. There are a series of striated rocks on the ground with copperplates on top of them with morse coded messages cut into them. There is a compass rose inscribed on a large lodestone near the courtyard entrance. All of these things are part of the Kryptos and hold some of it's secret. The four encrypted sections of the copperplate cipher on the main statue are referred to as K1, K2, K3, and K4.

Here are my suggestions for subforums:

    General - The Big Picture
    K1 - Nuance of Iqlusion
    K2 - Layer Two
    K3 - Wonderful Things
    K4 - OBKR
The Morse Code - Digetal Interpretation
The Loadstone & The Compass Rose

Even though all elements except for K4 have some level of solution, this is a multi-layered puzzle. Anything and everything may be related to the coveted K4 solution. And even once K4 is solved, the artist promised we will be left at the beginning of the mystery of Kryptos.

I think that this is a great idea. And the fact that there is no prize associated with it can make it a true collaborative effort. By this I mean that everyone should be able to contribute their ideas and thoughts and possible solutions. I am hoping that it will not be like other hunts which have people competing against each other for a prize, and therefore people who have solved some clues do not share.

Let's go Twelevers! Bring on the Kryptos!

Yes, the prize here is the glory. More fame than fortune. But the fame will be pretty substantial, if anyone here solves K4. Stories about the Kryptos have been carried on all the major media channels like CNN, Wired, ABC News, Wall Street Journal, etc. When a new clue involving the solution to K3 was announced this spring, it was big news. The solution of K4 will be huge.

Now, the Kryptos Yahoo group goes so far as asking all members of the group to agree to share credit of the solution to the entire group. I am not suggesting anything so silly here. The pirates code will work well enough. Let the spoils go to the victor. There should be treasure here for all in the journey.

It is more of a guideline anyway.
I for one am happy to credit the Tweleve nerds with any solve I might remotely come up with.
