Default International Spy Museum / Zola's Spy Restaurant

There are two places I desparately want to see in 2007. One is the International Spy Museum:
    http://www.spymuseum.org/index.asp
And the other is Zola's spy restaurant:
    http://www.spymuseum.org/dine/
    http://www.zoladc.com/

They are next door to one another. Zola's decor was provided by Kryptos artist Jim Sanborn. It is chock full of spy and Kryptosy goodness.

If anyone has or is going to visit these places, please post pics.

    It's not a place, it's a yearning. It's not a race, it's a journey.

    Rusty-

I just found this link - there are pictures (taken by Elonka) of some of Sanborn's work, including some photos from Zola's.

I just made arrangements for my big four-oh birthday party. I'm so excitied! We are taking a group of friends on a limo bus down to the International Spy Museum and dinner at Zola's. Whoo-hoo!

Thanks. I will take pics. And I'll try not to get arrested this time like when I went to NSA.

oooooo - rusty - you have a history of being a bad boy photographer! I too have been in trouble with the law whilst taking pics.

My rep takes me from Gettysburg thru D.C and on down into Virginia. All very innocent I must say. The only time I was - ah - detained - was in Gettysburg. Don't ever sit on a giant horse statue and take pics of it. They don't like that!

But - hey - that was years ago.

Personal advice for photographers trying to stay out of trouble:

When traveling to exotic locales, do NOT take pictures (or even display a camera) anywhere within sight of government-condoned violence.

This is more important than not riding horse statues.

Well, my big birthday bash was a success. The International Spy Museum was great. Sorry, no photography was allowed in the museum, so I have no pics to share. I recommend seeing this museum. It was very well done; about twice as big and twice as good as the NSA's museum.

Zola's however was a dissapointment. The food was good, but the service was below average. And the restaurant was devoid of all Sanborn stuff, except for a large stone tablet in the back room (which was probably holding up the wall). There was no mention of Sanborn there, and no spy stuff. Just skip it. There are plenty of better places to eat in DC.

Happy birthday, Rusty! Sorry to hear that Zola's wasn't worth it, but I'm glad that the spy museum was.
