Yes - I think it was during december.

I asked for Richard when the phone was picked up. He had answered.

I said my name and that I want to ask him about Kryptos.

His response was, "I am no longer pursuing Kryptos and do not want to talk about it"

I said Ok. Thanks and he hung up.

So my take was yes He did everything he said in the web site. Or, he was a trigger, or a trip wire to stumble across. I think the missing x in K3 to give Layer Two was also such a step. My current curiosity is that the timeline has everything happening in 90 when it was dedicated, but for some reason 97 keeps coming up as a "release" date. Perhaps, Layer two is a similar placeholder.

Now why post a web site in 2007 but have no interest in talking about it? Why post a web site in 2007 showing a strong theme of distaste for not having acknowledgment? Why cover the web site with Brown's novels?

I also tried to search the yahoo group to see if any one else had posted or discussed the site, but I found no reference. I actually hit his site by searching for Brown and kryptos. Perhaps a tripwire for the book?

However, what I was able to take away was the spy mind set. From his descriptions and writings I gathered a few themes - the three Ds. The encryption is the tree but there has to be a bigger picture - the trees, a grove, a forest - the tiaga.

Default Never Leave a Man Behind

    Randy,

Since, as you know my K4 answer has a theme, I had already pursued a chance to talk to a person who passed a message onto someone in the text. I was able to ask a few questions of the other person. Trying to explain this really did make me an emotional wreck, but it was worth it. Once I went down this road placing a phone call was a cake walk.

See the thread under K4 OBRK section:

Kryptos K4 Is A Simple Past - Palimpsest

If the link does not work one of the themes for K4 is the Iran Hostage Rescue. On April 1 before the mission went on with the helicopters "Coach" flew into Iran and planted landing lights at desert one. He buried what no eye could see. Once I figured out what the K4 topic was about and I found the eight tuts I started to google to find more context. As I built up my evidence I came across a biker's event in my home town. The event was to raise awareness and money for the children of the eight men that died. I printed out my evidence and sent an email to Coach asking a few questions. I took my evidence to the event and meet the organizer.

Now you know how hard it is to try and convince each other of our ideas here but I walked up to a special ops guy I have never met and tried to convince him to hand carry a note for me. I explained to him how I thought I found the eight mates in the sculpture and I lost it. I have grown up hearing nothing but never leave a man behind. Just like there's no crying in baseball there is no crying when talking to a special ops dude. Z completely understood though and took my note. The group was going to travel across three states and Coach was at the end event. I heard back from Coach that there exists two public memorials to the mission - one at ANC and one at a church. My fear was if I say the code is about the mission and the eight men I did not want to offend the families. King tut is dead and gone. These guys are still in our time. Nobody can get to the sculpture to lay a wreath - yes it is a crypt.

Since then I have found that K4 also says its ok to shed a tear.

TreeFinder, how much time have you invested in studying Kryptos?

Default Too much according to my wife

There was an author on the Today show that my wife saw with the kids. I missed it. They got me the books and my son and I began our treasure hunt. We worked a little here and we worked a little there. I wanted to use a key word for each 5 x 5, but it was too simple for that. I was trying to make it harder. What do you see "?" A Question mark? My daughter saw a swirly line with a dot. An association of a curve and dot is the unmasking - not the answer. I have a whole set of web solutions then those proposed and web clue three to me is nothing but kryptos. I was never going after kryptos - I was going after mates - mates I thought were in a jewelry box. My thought was similar to how the use of the Declaration of Independence words to encode a message based on the use of the first letter of the words. Maybe the words here were being used.

A funny thing happened on the way to my tree hole.

I was removing the debris - the masking of K4 - from the door - not king tut's but the pilots door - what debris - physical debris. I have to get the body. It's out there where? The last message was? Now that we found it we need to inspect and see inside. You are no longer playing a game this is real. I have created my own little matrix. After exchanging email with Coach I offered the idea up to Elonka and joined the yahoo group to express the K4 morse idea. So far I have too reactions - complete silence after the fact or out right your crazy it has to be a supper encrypted plain english text. What I have never gotten is yes the method is reproducible and does show the message. The validation. Elonka called it a datestamp by a second source. I thought Richard may be would of tried since no one on yahoo has. I never even got that far on the phone.

Remember one of the three ds was deception. The masking is simple, but what you read or parse is not unless you are human. How could something written in metal and fully parsed and then held in stone say anything else but what it says? A good beginning is a good ending. I believe even the sculpture has its own cover story - why would it not?

My time now is actually spent reading it. Since I am not trying to decode it. I try to read a little of the text. Then I use google to try to place the event historically. It is more this research that eats up time. Another example is oss woman joan who is she. She is not a she as she is a radio. In morse she is not hum0n. Is this "hum0n" human or is it no "hum on". This is the kind of weird context I am playing with. It is referred to as the key NQE - not quiet english. Perhaps JS invented this language that is sometimes discussed. Joan predates the cellular phone because she is the cellular phone so the morse is just txt messaging?

    TreeFinder,

Your vision into Kryptos is unique for sure. You appear to have great skill at the interpretive clues. What do you make of the reflecting pool? It has been theorized that it is part of the puzzle and important in interpreting the entire solution.

So far the key thought here is "reflective". If held in a mirror something is reversed - left in the image is right in your space. If what you are reading is morse you then read the message backwards. The dots and dashes are still dots and dashes but your message changes. In K4 the same thing is true. The sculpture has two sides so if you walk around it you see the text reflected. The 97 characters become 194 characters. That one did get Elonka's attention! A simple one is SOS is still SOS, but RQ becomes YR. Sam I am am I Sam?

The other water clue appears to be the extra characters of q u a e OR aque to mean water. However it could also be A Que => A Key?

I also read that the pool may have a pump that keeps the water moving and it is shallow and muddy. This made me think "mist" since the water was hard to see through so maybe we are to see something in the aque?
