    Default new Kryptos website

I just came across this very curious website.

    http://www.kryptos-cia.org/

This website is new as of 2007. This guy claims to be an ex-CIA operative who was the first person to crack Kryptos K1, K2, and K3. Now, it has been publicly stated by CIA officials that the first person to crack these ciphers was David Stein in 1998.

This new guy, Richard Guay is claiming he did it the previous year, in '97.

I'd like to get other peoples thoughts on this website. Is this guy a crackpot, or a potential player?

His name sounded familiar - it's actually Richard +++++++++++++++. When I started to type it in my google searchbar, it was already there, so I must have looked him up earlier.

Somehow, he is trying to tie in The DaVinci Code and The Solomon Key into this.

I wonder if this dude wears a tin foil hat?

I am surprised someone would go online with a website claiming they solved K1-K3 first. It has been a decade since that happened.

I have said many times, I am a skeptic. This is what skeptics do. They question what they hear. They do not accept 'facts' until verified. They follow the scientific method of reasoning to reach a logical conclusion.

My skeptical brain raised a red flag when I saw this website...

    Rusty,

I had actually tried calling him thinking he may want to help validate my K4 solution. He said he was done with Kryptos and was not interested in talking about Kryptos. It was a very short conversation and I never even got the chance to go into any discussion. Just my name and I wanted to discuss kryptos.

What caught my attention was his description of the "three Ds" - deceit, deception, and death. Kryptos contains all 3Ds and it is actually a three dimensional sculpture.

    Also 3 Des is ***-- -** * in morse - SOS. Thoughts?

My other hope was that Richard may be the tie between the NSA rumor of solving the sculpture in 92 followed by cia in 97. Richard has a background with both groups and I was hoping he was the filler in the time line.

What I did not take note of was the actual posting of the web site as being of 2007. How do you know it is new and not something that has been up for a longer time?

I gathered that the website was new mainly because I have not seen it before. I do Google searches now and then to keep up on Kryptos news. When this one popped up, I looked up the domain name "whois" info and saw that the site was registered early in '07.

You really called him on the phone and spoke to him?
