Default The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown

The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown is hardly an unknown book, topping the New York Times Best Seller's List for months. If you haven't picked up this flight of fancy, I'd highly recommend it as a good read.

I've actually met Dan Brown and I was the first person to successfully find and solve the three hidden puzzles in the book. They are hidden on the dust jacket and you need the book to solve them... they're short and fun and if you need help finding or solving them, send me a PM.

"A murder in the silent after-hour halls of the Louvre museum reveals a sinister plot to uncover a secret that has been protected by a clandestine society since the days of Christ. The victim is a high-ranking agent of this ancient society who, in the moments before his death, manages to leave gruesome clues at the scene that only his granddaughter, noted cryptographer Sophie Neveu, and Robert Langdon, a famed symbologist, can untangle. The duo become both suspects and detectives searching for not only Neveu's grandfather's murderer but also the stunning secret of the ages he was charged to protect. Mere steps ahead of the authorities and the deadly competition, the mystery leads Neveu and Langdon on a breathless flight through France, England, and history itself."

I thought his previous book, "Angels and Demons," was great, as well. Don't know if there are any riddles in that one or not, but I couldn't put it down!

Thanks for the pic of the book!

I too read this book a few months ago and couldn't put it down. I haven't read anything this exciting for years! I didn't even know there were some hidden puzzles to solve. The movie version will be coming out soon, I heard.

They did make a web game out of them, and even more evily, they chose a random person who solved the web puzzle to get a trip to Europe! It wasn't me

I found and solved those puzzles months before the webgame was launched. No clues, no pointers, and no corrections. The first I solved within 5 mins of picking up the book, when I happened upon Dan Brown during a signing at The Tattered Cover in Denver, CO. I didn't even know about the book, but was at the book store when Dan was there talking about it.

I noticed the funny font and had decoded the first riddle by the time he was done with the lecture and when he asked for questions, I asked the question that was decoded from the jacket. He was floored and made a really big deal about it. He also said that there were more puzzles to find. So, I found those over the next week or two and ran out and bought the rest of his books and solved the more simple puzzles in them too. I think Angels and Demons was the only book that didn't have an overt puzzle like the rest of them.

But I assure you, and have the e-mails with Dan and Jason Kaufman (Jonas Faukman) to prove it, that I found and solved the puzzles first.
