    Default Years

Something that wasn't real clear from the chat. He said it took 8 years of development for the puzzle. Is that 8 yrs for all 4 books? Even at 2 yrs a book, that is alot of time and effort put into such a small book.

A good angle to go from here might be to make a list of topics he replied to as "no comment" and see what else may turn up?

    Pen,

What I got out of it initially was the Team made the discovery in 1995. There were 9 team members (Duncan being one of them).

He also replied to a question later about how many people worked on the puzzle. He replied 4.

When asked about how many people know of this secret key, he replied 13 to his knowledge.

The numbers add up. He said they first wrote a book on the topic but was refused by publishers. Makes sense, because back in 95-98, grail lore wasn't the license to print money that is is today in our DaVInci code world. And with all the levels of this thing... 8 years is probably about right.

As for your idea about the "no coments" which there were few of... you must have read my mind!

The "no comment" I found interesting was when he was asked about the alignment of the pigpen characters. I tried looking at that angle along time ago and didn't come up with anything. I had written it off as just a result of the font/printing process.

Thinking of taking another look at that this evening since it would have been very easy for him to just say that its nothing...but not commenting must make it something.

    CThree,

I'm glad you glad posted the 5/12 chat log transcript. That should remain more secret and safe than the Maranatha Key!

The numbers add up unless we assume that Duncan was a member of the original research team AND of the team of four that built the puzzle. Then we get 12, since he's a member of both groups.

That means there's at least one other person out there somewhere with the Key.

And with all the levels of this thing... 8 years is probably about right.
I agree. It's pretty daunting to think that they spent 8 years putting those many layers into this puzzle -- based on a Key that's been developing for 1000 years or more -- and we're getting about 8 months to crack it.

9 originally on the team, all assumed to have the key. 4 worked on the puzzle, all assumed to have the key. One of more overlap (at least Duncan) between the groups. At least one outside of the superset of both groups has the key.

Someone led one of the authors who originally made the (renewed) discovery of the Key; presumably one or more of that group had the key.

The intro tells us that the key has been passed down for a long time, even to this day.

If the tone of the book's intro, the website, and the chat last night is to be believed .... this is about the biggest thing that will come into this world for ages. If true, I consider it a tremendous priveledge to be even involved to this level.

Makes the Key sound like walking on the moon, but to another level.

Duncan also mentioned something to the effect that it would be the readers (i.e., the discoverers?) who would bring / explain this to the world.

    Wow.

    Rob,

Perhaps winning this prize is a two headed snake. Whoever wins may end up regretting it. Why don't they want to take it public themselves? Is it that bad?

Regardless, it is an adventure well worth taking.

That's an interesting point, Phil. I had thought about that angle a while ago, but had forgotten about it. I don't really understand why they can't do it.

The warning flags are not going up, though. Net-Net, Risk-to-Reward, all systems are go.

Sounds like its along the lines that the people who discover it willbe like the bit that they tell two friends....who tell two friends...who tell two friends...who tell two friends... LOL
