Default The Parchment of Clues Scans

Alright Duncan gave us permission to host some scans of the parchment clues. We did also ask about scanning images from the books, this was turned down because of copyright laws, understandable.

On to the much anticipated scans!! The parchment clue is a standard sheet of letter size paper (8 1/2 x 11) of light yellow color with black ink. My scanner decided to add some color to the scans, *these colors are not on the parchment, only black/gray ink was used* There are pretty much 3 stages to the folds as they are given out by Priory Pub. (members have found other messages by making extra folds.)

Here is the front and back of the paper all folded up

In the front of the folded up parchment if you pull open the folds (pictures coming soon) you reach the second folded stage revealing a pig pen and standard alphabet.

You can see the final stage peaking from underneath. If you fold the sides fo the paper out you get to the center of the parchment, a whole page of text and pictures.

If your brave you can go ahead and print out the above picture and the below on a single piece of paper and try to reconstruct one of these folded masterpieces. I am in the process of getting more pictures and scans of so hang tight and we'll get more detailed for you.

    Default Thanks nitefyre..

Thanks nitefyre..this could help a lot...
I find it interesting that some of my posts here in this forum ..relate to this prchment of clues..

I posted not long ago about that..famous masonic tool....
thinking it could have real value
..I don;t think anyone really thought that
    it was a worthwhile pursuit...

I also posted about Folding thePages..(though more for the pics)
I've also been doing loys of origmi on the pigpen..
Both of these things are in this parchment..
so I will continue to use my intuition
..I must be picking up on something ..eh ???

I pat myself on the back..!!!

    thanks

Princess..... this goes to show that one must trust their sixth sense and to go with what you're feeling nomatter how outrageous it may appear to be.

Indeed it is true that you are more likely to solve this puzzle..... you go with the feelings, unafraid of what others may think of your "silly" ideas, which turns out to be not so silly afterall.

I firmly believe this puzzle will not be solved on mathematical analysis alone..... it is indeed necessary to introduce the mystical to this mix..... and you are just the person to do it.

    Default gregge...thanks

Gregga, Thanks ..for the very kind words..
    Your always saying such nice
    things to me..you can
    make people feel very good
    about themselves.

    ..But gregga
I'm not kidding myself.. or anyone else here.
..I may have cottoned on to a few
of the ways that they have put this book together.
but SOLVE this puzzle ..NO WAY !!!.
.that is very serious stuff !!!

I don't have that kind of brain capacity.!!!!
    I know my limits..there
are clues in this book that need
    some real brain work...
    ..which I don't have..and will
never find that part of my brain in top gear...ever!!!
sorry to spoil the illusion ...
Intuitive I am .....brainy I am not...
and the puzzle need both sides..

    The thought of a million
pounds though.. keeps me dreaming .
    ..and working on these clues..

I am just so shocked and happy to
find that quite a few of my ideas
were spot on ...wow!! I remember
when I came across that masons tool...in my research
    .and put up the post
.. I felt such a strong connection with that shape.

The same went with the folding of the pages
    ..something
that my father showed mewhen I was young..
It was a way of finding the answer
.to something he was showing me...to see the whole shape..
you had to fold the paper to get the answer...
..and that's always stayed in my mind..
    funny the things you remember
..and how there seems to be a relationship
with what you experience as a child..
and what happens to you now.

and I really thought my ideas were stupid.
. I will have to be more stupid
to gain more insight ..ha! ha!!

thanks again gregga..for all your faith in me
Astreeturover said a similar thing ..
that he thought I could solve this
    ..how nice of you 2

I've told my family that I'm in a
    treasure quest forum amongst
    a bunch of Brainiacs..
    They are pleasantly surprised
..(me being the least educated member of the family)

I'm sure they think of me as a female
version of "forest gump".....you know..how it went .
    .a regular..and rather clueless person
says a few dumb and enigmatic things ...
and everyone else thinks... that he's full of wisdom .!!

...ha!!! ha ..ha!! heee!! that's just like me folks...

Thanks for the scan - It's a big help to those of us who couldn't go to DC...

Question: In an earlier thread, PWS said his parchment was folded like 'a snake biting its tail' - this one clearly was not. Any idea why not?

    TIA!

It is folded the same way.

It is hard to describe, but after it is folded along the two vertical fold lines, then folded along the horizontal lines, the bottom portion is stuck inside the folded part of the top. The top with MARANATHA on it is not just folded over the bottom. They are sort of locked together.

Got it, I see how they did that now. Thanks! (though I still can't find the significance of that...)

    mdredmond,

I'm guessing the paper folded in around itself symbolizes Ouroboros, the world serpent, the serpent biting its tail.
