I continue to plug away at this.

Is there anyone else still seriously working on it? HT ? A ? Any others ?

I stopped as it just seemed pointless to me. Without the 'originator' of the puzzle and the 'true' solution to measure your solution against, any answer you come up with is no more valid than anyone else's. So it appears to lead to a limbo state.

    HT,

There should be enough information in the puzzle, to determine the meaning of the Emerald monks, if one is on the right track.

    M,

Id say that p. 38 is most important, with the remainder of the puzzle providing the context. Yes, still working on it.

    jlockest,

Sorry to hear that you have stooped. Hope you will come back some time. I have always valued your questions and posts. Hope to see you back at some time.

I had a breakthrough a few days ago. I went into a second-hand bookshop to get a book I had seen in the window a couple of weeks previously. Unfortunately they had sold it. I went into the small back room to browse through the few books on history they had. I found a book that I had no knowledge of beforehand, that confirmed the idea that I have been working on lately in relation to the puzzle. It felt good to receive confirmation of at least part of the puzzle.

This has given me renewed confidence that the puzzle can be solved.

Kind of you to say .

I'm interested in the solutions - but only to wonder at the ways the various people have interpreted the book(s) in their own ways. But as I said no one can 'know' what the solution is without D's or the 'teams' input. So you can never verify your solution (unless you get access to D or whoever and they confirm it). We've all seen that the prize claim answer (which wasn't the solution to the puzzle) was subjective. We've all seen D's subsequent posts on Arcadia and his own musings page. So it's not wildly imaginative to assume the solution will also be 'subjective'. It's not like finding the solution to 1+1 which although can have multiple solutions, at least can be in some way logically proven. We've all seen here 5 or 6 people who were convinced they had the answer. One set up a web site didn't they? Christine was convinced she also had it and published her theory on the arcadia forum. None of those solutions matched each other. Each person had gone off down their own 'pet' path and found their own answers. And that is what the puzzle encouraged. Each sentence could be interpreted in a myriad of ways, each clue ditto. Maybe I'm lazy or maybe I just became toooooooo cynical about it all to actually believe anymore that there was anything at all behind the hype beyond a money making exercise that went wrong.
