Perhaps it does refer to the two saints.

I had several understandings of “two birds”. One i wont share, but the other(s) related to two aspects relaed to the Key ... ‘the deserts’ (find in the deserts the old and the new, two ages of thought), Joseph and Mosis. Bread would then be representative of what ‘feeds the wilderness’ .

More about Joseph: see to the first, Joseph, and See how much bread. A brief element of a solve was previously presented where the dream aspect of Joseph on p. 9, represented by the face on the back of the head of the kneeling figure, looked at the crescent moon (the ‘C’, C to the first), to the rose on the Mount.

Hi Horace. Good to hear from you! Are you still working on the puzzle?

I have tried to understand how the "two birds" could possible refer to the two saints. I found a way, but the logic is torturous and I eventually abandoned that line of inquiry.

    A. I know that you've brought up this face on the back of the kneeling figure on p. 9 before. I can see what you are getting at, but I fail to grasp the significance that you are attaching to it.

I think that other information has to be found before the meaning of the clue can be grasped.

Yes, M. In my view, the puzzle is used to tell a story. The story uses historical characters, from a specific heritage (if thats an approptiate word), to represent attributes or aspects, related to the Key. The culminating aspect is that of the King. I think the first puzzle only gives us an introduction to this story and heritage. The puzzle piece referenced does not tell the story by itself, all the pieces are used, in order, as the story is read and interpretted. So, agreed, the piece by itself is certainly not the cohesive overview.

I think many of the Monthly Clues were devised as 1) referencing back to the hidden puzzle information, and 2) providing suggestions for additional tie ins and research to the heritage.

    ( Hi Horace )

We know that ‘birds’ can be used in British slang to mean ‘girls’ and that it also has something in common with ‘burden’. Is there anything else in a similar approach that could tie it to saints in general, or two specific saints (e.g., Anthony)? Im not able to make any connection there.

M, im going to point out something that seems to be happening (again), this time with you ‘two birds’ discussion. On March 13 (3/13), a discussion began in a separate treasure hunt which specifically addresses two birds (raven and crow).

    https://www.hintofriches.com/forum/t...cher#post86358

Now, in this other hunt, the URL address is based on a phrase “and hint of riches new and old”. And we were just discussing ‘Find in the Deserts the Old and the New’, two ages of thought...’

In this other puzzle, they specifically reference one of the birds as fortelling the future. This connects back to my point about ‘Joseph’ and the messages of dreams.

    Ravens are smarter than crows:

Both of these birds are extremely intelligent (though ravens seem a bit smarter than crows) and are quite playful.

    Hi Michael,

Gave up on puzzle a long time ago - I'm not very good with clues .

I think that if you stick at it for long enough you'll get it - you have a very agile mind.

Anyway, Duncan says he has already given us the solution - hmm???

I still wonder about/question what Duncan knows.

I always wonder at, what for me, is the clear direction at the end of the Maranatha text - "Contentment is the Philosopher's stone".

May be that's it - it's a fairly explicit statement, unlike everything else in the text.

I don't know - how about: birds, wings, angels, saints???

Anyway, you were the word chain master.
