    Default A Journey

    All -

Now that “maskit” has fomrally arrived – well, I’ll take that as a cue. “START ME to your Journey’s END”, maskit. I have been wrestling with a question for some time, and it seems the best way to get an answer is to begin this thread, and see where it goes. There are several reasons I haven’t been presenting specific puzzle information to date: 1) selfish, to win, 2) out of respect to others on a similar path, 3) something else. Regarding #2, if anyone wants me to stop these type of posts, let me know and I will respect it.

In presenting information here, it is only one person’s perspective and experiences, and may not be relevant for anyone else, or perhaps relevant in different ways. It is not the quickest way through the puzzle, as each Journey is unique, none better than any other. It is the composite of all perspectives, of all points of perception and awareness, that combines into One.

    I will attempt to give information very specific to the basic puzzle, but blend in additional information that is part of a complex tapestry of a much larger Puzzle. The material will be of different sorts, assorted, but not necessarily sorted. Sort of how life comes at us. :}

In presenting the specific material, I will try to keep it fairly self-contained, without relying on external references. I don’t have nearly as much background in the external information as many on this forum – I will probably make some remarks, but leave to others to expand.

The basic puzzle is tightly knit together. I will try to give a few examples that won’t reveal too much right away.

“There CAN be only One”. That takes us to ..

    1) Fouquet

    … CAN BE DISCOVERED AGAIN.

BY THE TALENTS OF ABRAHAMS KIN CAN THE KEY TO THE GREATEST OF TREASURES OF WHICH NOTHING NOW ON THIS EARTH CAN PROVE OF BETTER FORTUNE NOR BE ITS EQUAL COULD BE FOUND

“Could” doesn’t work, both in grammar and because “can” would be the word indicated.

The correct word is CLOUD. To find this did not require any specialized external reference. A hint is “nothing now on this Earth”.

The word CLOUD has several meanings. As one, clouds were used by some of the (painting) Masters to hide information. This applies equally to brush strokes. The bottom picture of this link is an example

    http://www.maranatha-puzzle.com/the-key.asp

    2) centre of the heavenly spheres

I chose this specifically for t.i.m., and others who are putting a lot of time into geometry. It is not a negative comment, and geometry is not negated at some levels.

    p. 10 – below the king’s foot, there is a line segment connecting the “sun” and “Uranus” symbols. Extend David’s staff, and you will see that it bisects that line. No external references required, and you only needed to know that the symbol represented some type of heavenly spheres. This is certainly not all that is referenced in the phrase.

As some external reference and to give a pre-glimpse of what is behind this puzzle, and to again tie to t.im., the are numerous values of GOLD used in this puzzle. One of the values is AU. t.i.m., an alternate meaning of AU is Astronomical Unit. If you check the distance of Uranus from the Sun (which two symbols are used in this construction), you find that it is “at the centre of the heavenly spheres”, it is halfway between the sun and the furthest planet (using time-averaged values).

    URANUS, t.i.m. It has already been written – U R A SUN

    *****************
All for now, gang. I don’t have a specific plan for this thread, other than to try releasing information and see where it goes. It is my hope to give you hope that the puzzle(s) is solvable.

    another value of gold = 7+15+12+4 = 38.

i don't quite make the bisection (well, i can by working backwards) , but then i've always had problems with these wonky staffs!

    T.I.M.

It is true that GOLD = 38, but it is much more than that.

Write out GOLD in pig-pen. Turn the pig-pen 90 degrees and decode in that orientation, then add up all the letter values. Keep doing this for all four orientations.

In ALL four cases you get 38.

I have found no other word with this property.

    Rob,

I definitely like the CLOUD idea, especially in light of "NOTHING NOW ON THIS EARTH".

Of course changing COULD to CLOUD doesn't improve the grammar of that line, does it? Or have you found a better way to punctuate it too?

    Thanks!

    t.i.m,

There are even more values of gold.

    pws,

Thanks for the additional information on the rotational values. I had not done that for GOLD. P. 38 is the words of the king.

    rdix,

I thought it read okay using cloud. An English pro might argue against it. Cutting some phrases out for clarity:

OF WHICH NOTHING NOW ON THIS EARTH CAN BE ITS EQUAL CLOUD

    pws,

Seems like there should be other words that give equal sums upon pigpen roation, but I don't have any. Maybe there is a general rule, say, using properties of matrices. GOLD is proving more interesting all the time, that's for sure.

On the 90 deg CCW rotation, you can reorder to get HIJK.

You can also get the 38 sum using reflection.

    pws111,

fascinating that GOLD=38 rotated all ways.

    but it's not that uncommon.
all you need (simple version) is 2 sets of letters that are opposite each other on the other pigpen square.

    so G opposite L
    and D opposite O.

    so i quickly found
    H opposite K and A opposite R.
giving us HARK another 38 rotator!

    TIM,

Nice find. I knew there should be others, but could not find them.

I wonder if there are any that have this property and total a number besides 38?

This may be over technical, but clouds do occur not only at ground level but also below ground level (if your are on a high mountain). I have a very vivid memory of camping in the mountains when I was 11 and waking up inside of a cloud. One of the worst experiences you can imagine.

If there is anything to the cloud interpretation then, it may be telling us what "THIS EARTH" means. In other words, the location being referred to is not a highland or a mountain...
