An astrological map ... type of mandala? A type of birth horoscope? Tied into the evolutionary stages of mankind and of self? Through the choices we make (beyond planetary and star influences), we build our own inner Temple (Ark/cube). Input/output ... the 'measure' of what we put in our thoughts is what we get out of life (that's another type of measure).

If we are to 'build' an astrological map, only one staff/rod/caduceus (line) will fit each puzzler ... one's own birth month. Staff, caduceus ... key.

Not too familiar with astrology, but looking ...

Sometimes we work so long at something that is right in front of us that we no longer really ‘see’ it (like looking at ourselves in the mirror and no longer really seeing). That’s what I think of my puzzling! I also have difficulty finding the words to express what I see … and a definite lack of knowledge in the many fields of study followed on this board.

To me, the line at the top of each page is a ‘timeline’ that leads to a ‘map’ or to the ‘measure’ of an ‘I’.

The dark line (vertical ‘I’, Staff, Key) could represent (or measure) one’s own lifetime (A to Z … beginning (alpha) to end (omega) … birth to death) in a long line of life-times (genealogy) that goes back to Genesis. Each person’s lifetime-line ‘travels’ only forward in time. As beings made of atoms, our genesis and our omega goes beyond time.

The reference to Abraham’s ‘kin’ could represent a genealogical timeline … using the 12 tribes (sons) as archetypes. Abraham, the father of nations, looked ‘forward in time’ to see a multitude of descendents, as promised by YHWH. We, however, must ‘travel’ back in time to know our ancestral roots (DNA, bloodlines) and our ancestors’ birth and death dates. Also, Abraham looked forward to a ‘Promised Land’ (like Arcadia?) and to a Promised Seed/Son (Gold? Son/Sun? Star of Bethlehem? Tiphareth on the Tree of Life?). It is in the Promised Land that the Son, the Ark and the Power of the Ark would dwell.

The reference to the Messengers (also used as archetypes) could represent the school of thought (religious, philosophical, etc) one subscribes to. That’s partly what I meant when I said ‘the measure of what we put into our minds (input/intake) is what we get out of life (output)’. The Messengers may represent the ‘branches’ of thought the author followed/selected for the purpose of this puzzle, though he may have followed several other branches in real life.

I think that we are to extract the ‘key’ from four scenes in the book and to draw four scenes that are supposed to tell a story in which we will find the (reconstructed or re-forged?) ‘key’ (staff, I).

In two pictures I have rings within rings (concentric), and symbols, used as archetypes, on them. Seven rings (lead to gold) that speak of a person’s body, soul and spirit (also as 3 orbs = earth, moon, sun)! Each ring represents one aspect of one’s life. The pictures tell ‘the story of a lifetime’ … the ‘measure’ of who/what ‘I am’ (a microcosm) within the great circle of life-time (macrocosm, the Great ‘I AM’).

The story is told using a ‘tree’ (as a tree grows) through the course of one year (4 seasons/scenes, full circle) … which is as cycling through one day … morning, AM star = Spring (birth, new life); daystar = Summer (productive years); PM star = Autumn (fruition of work, aging life); night = Winter (death while new seeds wait for Spring)!

The Tree’s fruit, an apple, bears seeds stored in its center in what looks like a 5-pointed star (Star of Bethlehem?) when the apple is cut crossways. Perhaps this ties into the Sept. clue? The word Ark (arc, arka, arche, arc-in-sky (rainbow) is perhaps very important … as is the Power of the Ark (Shekinah Glory, Light, Solar Power, Wisdom?).

It all goes back to ‘know Thyself’!

Some of what I said has already been said. I just wanted to keep the thoughts together. Hope it makes sense.

    Not sure what you mean.

In the Companion the line is swaps side of the page every alternate page.

    Is that what you mean?

Yes, it is not exactly the same line. Nor the cover.

Also, the use of BAR ES was interesting in the latest clue.
