That's because it becomes operational on 30/11/2009.

None of the links on the page function.

Default Harry Potter meets Lord of the Rings

Looks glitzy enough. I say they are giving up on us as the core group who have been laboring for 4+ years and are trying to attract a larger audience with this approach.

Characters remind me of Dumbledoor from Harry Potter and Strider (Aragorn) from LOTR

    Troubling.

It has to be a reissue--I agree with someone's comment on how expensive that was to make. 1 million pounds versus dollars? again troubling.

Perhaps its just one big mega clue...

    MW,

The one million pounds is "over one million dollars".

If this is a new push, personally, I think it is puerile - it's even more tacky than Dan Brown.

Yes, but sadly that is exactly what it takes to reach the vast majority of people in the world.

The release date is conspicuously a typical "clue" date, and there are a ton of things to absorb from that video.

How was this found and who found it?
If one can only buy the book from the site through some registration process, I wonder if you agree to 1MM dollars only (even in my Flashforward the pound and US dollar were not at parity )

Can someone who is "tight" with the PP get some kind of email comment from them on this?

True. Good catch. I missed the "over" part.

ah yes, now that I watched again, that is true. It is not 1MM dollars, it is OVER 1MM dollars. Perhaps this is a way to Americanize the the sum.

Read the website closer. It says the reward is OVER ONE MILLION DOLLARS, not just one million dollars. It really changes nothing. They are tied in with Dan Brown, and that means the focus is the American market, so they needed to use dollars instead of pounds.

The hunt is getting a glitzy corporate makeover to spur broader interest. They told me they had to get corporate level involvement over a year ago and I suppose this is what they meant.

The market is very small in the treasure hunting community and they have realized this. Their goal is not to just get the puzzle solved, but to increase awareness and discussion in the general public. This is also why they fed Dan Brown information for the latest novel.

If they stay in the small treasure hunt groups, then they really will not have accomplished much in the way of preparing the world for this secret. It is damaging in just about the most horrible way we could imagine. They need to be gentle, but at some point they will simply have to come right out and say it. No matter how much one beats around the bush when you need to tell someone a close relative has passed away, the end result is just as painful. There is no easy way to do this, but getting people to at least hear some of it first will prepare them a little.
