    Everything is an illusion. With every action you create your future. With every thought you create your destiny. The only real thing is love. When you hurt another person you hurt yourself, When you forgive another person you forgive yourself. Many seek the holy grail, but you already have it. Wake up from the world of dreams you live in. Then you will find the answers you have always wanted.

    THE DISCIPLE by

    He that hath a Gospel
    To loose upon mankind,
    Though he serve it utterly -
    Body, soul and mind -
    Though he go to Calvary
    Daily for its gain -
    It is his Disciple
    Shall make his labour vain.

    He that hath a Gospel,
    For all earth to own
    Though he etch it on the steel,
    Or carve it on the stone -
    Not to be misdoubted
    Through the after-days -
    It is his disciple
    Shall read it many ways.

    It is his disciple
    (Ere those bones are dust)
    Who shall change the charter,
    Who shall split the trust -
    Amplify distinctions,
    Rationalise the Claim,
    Preaching that the Master
    Would have done the same.

    It is his disciple
    Who shall tell us how
    Much the Master would have scrapped
    Had he lived to now -
    What he would have modified
    Of what he said before -
    It is his disciple
    Shall do this and more.

    He that hath a Gospel
    Whereby Heaven is won -
    (Carpenter or Cameleer,
    Or Maya’s dreaming son) -
    Many swords shall pierce him,
    Mingling blood with gall;
    But His Own Disciple
    Shall wound him worst of all.

    Abide with Me
    Sure brings tears to my eyes. Those were the days when you presided in triumph at the harmonium and I manned the tea urn. Morning tea was never the same once we left.

    If it was not for Enid Blythe's horrific injuries it could have lasted longer. I told her to keep well away from my E flat tuba but she would not listen. We performed our party piece, and it was during the last rousing chorus of " Onward Christian Soldiers when Milly when wild on the timbrels. She inadvertently dislodged the pick up of Enid's hearing aid into the bell of my tuba just as I hit the top note of my bass solo.

    The scream was so loud that her false teeth hit you in the back of your neck. Then the shame of us being escorted for the Church Hall.

    It still pains me after all these years.
    Hi All, Hi Azoth,

    I don't think we've ever talked. I'd never heard " Abide with Me" before.
    I lost a dear friend, he died last Friday and I just found out late yesterday afternoon. To say I was stunned is to put it mildly, still haven't stopped crying. This post of yours brought me some comfort. Thank you for putting it up. The poem is great.

    Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
    The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.
    When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
    Help of the helpless, O abide with me.
    Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day;
    Earth’s joys grow dim; its glories pass away;
    Change and decay in all around I see;
    O Thou who changest not, abide with me.
    Not a brief glance I beg, a passing word;
    But as Thou dwell’st with Thy disciples, Lord,
    Familiar, condescending, patient, free.
    Come not to sojourn, but abide with me.
    Come not in terrors, as the King of kings,
    But kind and good, with healing in Thy wings,
    Tears for all woes, a heart for every plea—
    Come, Friend of sinners, and thus bide with me.
    Thou on my head in early youth didst smile;
    And, though rebellious and perverse meanwhile,
    Thou hast not left me, oft as I left Thee,
    On to the close, O Lord, abide with me.
    I need Thy presence every passing hour.
    What but Thy grace can foil the tempter’s power?
    Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be?
    Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.
    I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless;
    Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
    Where is death’s sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
    I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.
    Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes;
    Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
    Heaven’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee;
    In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.
