HT I saw your post about MUD whilst trying to post. Afterwards mud and my post disappeared!

Mention by you and Astree of Tobit (and root) is attractive, since Tobias killed the giant fish and used the gall-bladder to restore his father's sight. Tobit could SEE again and they all lived "in prosperity and joy".

No mention is made in the Companion of how Tobias got hold of the internals of the giant fish. We can only assume he used a KNIFE which, whilst blindingly obvious, may be the "ancient secret device" mentioned in the LRB on page vii, "Authors Notes".

Incidentally, interesting you should call this thread "The END of the Line", hmmm...?

If this isn't the guts of the puzzle, then maybe I should fold

Clue 25th December 2005 - Kinda like an Xmas present Astree!

"So did those feet in ancient times walk where they buried their burning gold.
So did they lay their mantle down for a king to raise it as his standard."

At times we need to wear more than one hat.

Since you brought up the Dec. 25, 2005 clue, I decided to look at it again.

"So did those feet in ancient times walk where they buried their burning gold.
So did they lay their mantle down for a king to raise it as his standard."

As said before, the feet in the MN clue are different from those in Blake's poem. In the clue 'those feet' are the people who walked the Earth and perished by being burnt alive (burning gold; mantle of flesh) for their faith/beliefs which the Inquisitors judged as being evil because it was different from what was dictated. They were as Gold and their greater spiritual Gold was the Treasure within their hearts ... LOVE … love God, self, and neighbour. King Jesus' Standard was Love … the Golden Rule. I see Love as one of the main themes of Maranatha ... and maybe part of the Gold we are to find.

Luke 10:27 He answered: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"

    ---------------
    Standard
-something considered by an authority or by general consent as a basis of comparison; an approved model.
-a rule or principle that is used as a basis for judgment
-etc… and also see synonyms for 'standard'

    Mara,
It was not my intention to invoke "Heaven in England" as might William Blake, nor am I so worthy as to debate the religious issues that are raised by you. Indeed, I am such a shiftless soul I believe only in the God of Quantum Physics, in Mathematics, and not in the words of the Bible. For that, please forgive me.

My intentions are purely mechanical: a matter of function and a desire to see the end of this debacle which has been handled so badly. I am also reluctant to impinge too far on HappyThoth's thread, except when I think he (and Astree) are on the mark. These two are either very clever or just plain lucky. I pick the former!

All the best in your life's quest, whatever flavour, (spin up or spin down), it might take.

Our mainstream science is not developed to the point of explaining it all, but that’s not to say the phenomena don’t exist. Nor, that we won’t progress, as our fears subside.

Yes, my wife and I have journeyed around India. Is this India? Who knows, maybe not. But let me tell you, these drivers know how to go further and scare you For info, the state of Kerala on the East coast of India is wonderful, particularly the lakes and the tea and herb gardens in the mountains. The tigers are scary, but the prawns (shrimps) in the lakes are to die for!

With regards the hull, I constructed 19 X 12 from TH which anyone can do and where it came from. I have since changed my mind am near HappyThoth's END which ties in with the clue 29th June 2006:

"Peace was never meant to be found, here the Romans put the beginning after the start and before the end."

Merry Pranksters is correct and they were so afraid of giving anything away, their clues were abominable.

Did you know you can make X out of V and Y? Of course you do!

    And so it is...
