    she quotes an ancient riddle

A house based on a foundation like the skies
A house one has covered with a veil like a secret box
A house set on a base like a goose
    One enters it blind,
    Leaves it seeing,

    C. R. C. became an adept in the gathering of medicinal herbs, the transmutation of metals, and the manufacture of precious gems by artificial means. Even the secret of the Elixir of Life and the Universal Panacea were communicated to him. Enriched thus beyond the dreams of Croesus, the Holy Master returned to Europe and there established a House of Wisdom which he called Domus Sancti Spiritus. This house he enveloped in clouds, it is said, so that men could not discover it.
I am assuming that the phrase "set on a base like a goose", refers to the foundation, the base, being like a goose in some way. Perhaps white and feathery.
That the phrase is not meant to mean "set, like a goose, on a base." In which case it could be something to do with sitting on an egg. Perhaps incubating, hatching, or hiding the egg. The goose has to be relevant to helping the listener or reader solve the riddle in some way.

    "
The incubation period, in which the female incubates while the male remains nearby, lasts for 24–28 days after laying."

To be initiated is to set off on the trail of a hidden or unsurpassed truth that is not perceived by all. Initiation is a ritually transmitted process. The neophyte is led to the “center of the earth”, into the womb of wombs, a place where he must meet with himself, where he is led into a space-time equation where his psyche is that of a new-born looking for his identity.
It is important to understand that an initiation does not convey new powers but can be seen as operative poetry that tends to be purely ignored.
All kinds of initiations, as simple as baptism, or the coming of age in a tribal society, or even in a more elaborate integration into an esoteric society implies a symbolic rebirth, a new life, which carries the annihilation of the former self as something can only be reborn, like the phoenix from its own ashes. Initiation is identified with the “original”. It embodies a paradox of “becoming himself” through the exaltation of the inner self, by identifying the self with the universe. In fact how can anyone contain within himself that of which he is but a part? The answer may rest in the fact the aim is not complete identification, but rather an analogy between man, the microcosm and the universe, the macrocosm. Analogy is therefore the first step of the journey, and all initiation rituals are devised to create the awareness to the importance of analogy.

The Way of the Goose and its relation with the Way of Saint James

The cultures celtas and preceltas, maintained a symbol sacred, for their brotherhoods and brotherhoods: oca or goose, represented by the symbolism of the leg of oca, that when walking, leaves printed a very similar mark the tridente of Poseidón, that was determinative of all those atlantes cultures. The Way of Stars agrees with the Way of the Goose and the Shell.
When the first Christians begin to peregrinate to Santiago, are whereupon the settlers of the Way, have deep traditions and speak of a Way of the Goose or Stars and of a Field of the Stars, at which he arrives himself by a labyrinth that is necessary to cross to renew on the inside. These experiences are impossible to start; and what they do it is to cristianizar them. Ordenes, that is going away to order to cristianizar them, is mainly: Cluny, Cister and the one of Temple, that as of Century X, is in charge of the constructions, that are equipped with a symbolism in accordance with the Christianity.
It is thus, like those old symbols: the star, the shell, the leg of oca, the crow, the wolf, the dog, is adopted as Christian symbols and are gotten up to the Christian peregrination. If we superpose two legs of the Oca, one upwards and another one downwards, we obtain the X and the bar that the short one vertically, obtaining the X and with the P (Ji and Ro: it initiates to them of the name of Christ).
The Goose: Transmitters of the sagrada wisdom?

Formerly, the Ocas was the guardians of the houses, alerting of the presence of intruders, with the scandalous noise who produced.
The Ocas, was considered the paradigm of the Sagrada Wisdom. One was based on the belief that the Ocas, Geese or Geese, were the sagradas guides, shipments to advise to the Humans.
The swan is a symbolic bird of the esoterismo and has been used often by the spiritualist writers of East and the West. The Eastern ones, called to the sacred swan “Hamsa”,that is directly related to the creative God Rutting, being this one“Hamsa-Vâhana” or “Vehicle of the Swan”.
For that they wish to free itself, the way of the initiate-swan, is a safe footpath of evolution towards the light. The Ayo, Educator or Teacher were well-known like Goose. The Jars Teacher means: the goose that teaches, Jakin (Basque) means: wisest.
The Way of Saint James, following the route of the Goose Wild

The Ocas Wild, has seasonal and stable migratory routes and defined the calls Ways of the Ocas. These routes, agree with the Way to Saint James or Way of Stars.
It is possible to ask to us if the migrations of the Goose, marked a way that followed the Route Milky or Way of Stars and used it as guide to the Pilgrims to arrive at Santiago.? It seems logical to think, that the pilgrims, followed the indications natural to at night guide until Santiago, following by day the Way of the Goose and the Way of Stars The old pilgrims, did not have Maps nor Guides and they moved in a hostile world, marked by the existence of: multiple kingdoms, feudal gentlemen, different languages, religions and customs, basing its peregrination on the aid of: Churches, Monasteries and Refuges. The oral information, transmitted was based on datum points, that they had to be located and in the route through footpaths signalized by astronomical elements, geographic or migratory: Way of the Ocas, Way of Stars….
Throughout the Way, he is frequent, to find the symbol of the Leg of the Oca. One assumes, that he was one of the symbols used by the Construction Teachers of the Churches and Cathedrals.
Geographic areas of the Way of the Goose with great influence in the Way of Saint James.

In the route of the Way of Santiago there are two zones, in which populations with name persist of: Oca, Goose, Goose, Unit of capacitance…
The La Riojan zone of Villafranca Montes de Oca.
The Berciana zone from Goose to Fertile valley of Valcarce.
That relation keeps the Game from the Goose with the Way to Saint James.

The Game of the Oca, is based on a Spiral or Caracol, divided in 63 squares. The Leg of the Oca and the Caracol were the symbols of the“Construction Companions”, who raised the churches of Romanesque style, being but beautiful and the esoteric ones, the ones in charge by the Templarios. Each one of the Squares in which this divided the Game of the Goose, bears a relation to the Stages from the Way of Saint James.
The game of the Goose, was memorised and exercised, so that it did not forget, becoming Guía of the Way for the Initiates, so that each square marked a stage and its beginning and end were clear by the Labels that left the Teachers Construction as marks.
The Knight Templar, had prohibited by their Rules, the games of Dices and Chess. The Game of the Goose, was not a Game for the Knight Templar, was Guía, Guía of the Way of Saint James, that turned into Game, for Not initiated.
In the Way of Saint James, we have considered that relation, for the design of the Stages.

''The appearance of Asmodeus: Wierus said that dragon riding Asmodeus has three heads; a bull, a man and a ram. He has the tail of a serpent, THE FEET OF A GOOSE and has flaming breath. Collin de Plancy in his book, 'Dictionnaire Infernal' depicts Asmodai as having the breast of a man, legs of a cock, the tail of a serpent and three heads. What?

The far most famous church of Barcelona is the Sagrada Família.

In medieval times, the geese guarded the cathedral and its at treasures. The gaggling and skirling of the geese would have betrayed each intruder at night. This tradition still exists today, so that one should not be surprised about the geese in the interior of the cross-coat palm garden.
The Barcelona Cathedral is not to be confused with Sagrada Família, which is a large church by Antoni Gaudí, also in Barcelona.
The Barcelona Cathedral has a secluded Gothic cloister where 13 white geese are kept.
Geese are known as territorial birds. They have that natural tendency to defend themselves and their nest against any human or pet who impose as a threat to them and their goslings. When a goose attacks, they will give you a hiss while standing erect, wings spread and head reared then they charge at you.
In conclusion, geese hiss when they are defending their territories, eggs, goslings and themselves. So I suggest that when you encounter a goose, be careful not to make them angry.
Why do Geese Hiss? | Why
"Handling a goose is something that needs to be addressed, as they should never be grabbed or picked up by the legs. The legs are easily broken and should never be used to catch the bird, and definitely do not carry the bird upside-down by its legs, unless the bird is about to get killed for supper anyway. Also, if carrying a goose rather than a gander, do not carry her football style with your arm around her middle as this could break an egg inside her, cause an infection and eventually kill her. Carry her by the base of both wings instead."

Or is this what you meant by CLOUDING ISSUES?
I didnt even post that ridiculous translation that has appeared on what I said above.
I was simply drawing a connection between the Route Saint-Jacques the symbol of the goose and ASMODEUS.
The negative space between his thumb and finger,on the statue in the church at R.L.C.-might it indicate somewhere for the placing of a pilgrim's staff?
And back to Flamel again by the same circuitous route?

Some helpful background on current post subjects in this Thread for fellow members.

    THE GAME OF THE GOOSE

The board consists of a track with consecutively numbered spaces (usually 63), and is often arranged in a spiral with the starting point at the outside. Each player's piece is moved according to throws of one or two dice. Scattered throughout the board are a number of spaces on which a goose is depicted; landing on a goose allows the player to move again by the same distance. Additional shortcuts, such as spaces marked with a bridge, move the player to some other specified position. There are also a few penalty spaces which force the player to move backwards or lose one or more turns, the most recognizable being the one marked with a skull and symbolizing death; landing on this space results in the player being sent back to start. On Spanish boards the reverse is usually a PARCHIS board.

    THE WAY OF SAINT JAMES

The Way of St. James was one of the most important Christian pilgrimages during medieval times, together with Rome and Jerusalem, and a pilgrimage route on which a plenary indulgence could be earned;[1] other major pilgrimage routes include the Via Francigena to Rome and the pilgrimage to Jerusalem.

Legend holds that St. James's remains were carried by boat from Jerusalem to northern Spain where he was buried on the site of what is now the city of Santiago de Compostela.

The Way can take one of any number of pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela. Traditionally, as with most pilgrimages, the Way of Saint James began at one's home and ended at the pilgrimage site.

Sort of like the MARANATHA Book.

    PARCHIS
Parchís (Catalan: parxís; Basque: partxis) is a Spanish board game of the Cross and Circle family.
This game is played with 1 die and 4 pawns per player. Dice cups are optional, but most game sets include them. As in Pachisi, the aim is simple: players compete on leading their four pawns out of their nest, around the whole board, into the color track and up to the center of the board, chasing and "eating" each other in the process.

A roll of 5 forces the player to release one pawn from the nest (if there are any left), and a roll of 6 gives the player an extra turn. When the player has 4 pawns in the game (outside the nest), whenever he gets a 6, he can move 7 squares.

If ever three 6's are rolled in a row, the last piece moved is killed and returned to the nest. If the last piece moved was in the final coloured ramp, it is only moved to the bottom of it.

Which you may remember is very like the Milton Bradley boardgame "TROUBLE", with the "Pop-O-Matic" die container.
