# Thread: The Key, Geometry, and Duncan

1. ## The Key, Geometry, and Duncan

This thread is to discuss the possible relationship between the Maranatha “Key” and (sacred) Geometry.

I am still wrestling with quite a few issues in this regard, some technical / logistical and some ethical, so the presentation may be a bit jumbled, but mostly just trying to start a discussion.

First, I would like to acknowledge the tremendous contribution and effect that the Maranatha puzzle has made in my life, and of course by inference, Duncan’s work.
To preface the discussion, I recall some of the apparent contradictions in press releases and other comments, surrounding this treasure hunt - these do not directly point to Geometry, and can be recalled later in the thread, if appropriate.

One of the largest problems I realize I face, in this discussion, is counter-evidence of a solution to the Maranatha puzzle NOT involving (explicit) Geometry. Because I believe I understand the solution to the puzzle, but am not going to present it, I surrender that I offer no counter solution. I will say, that I believe the solution I have, is as truly intended in the essence of the puzzle, many of the steps synchronized with the monthly clues and completed at the 5 month mark (as originally foretold) and mostly without conventional means of communication with Duncan.

2. .
First, to present some central ideas (words) presented to the readers as a foundation to the Maranatha quest: the "secret", the Key, and the Grail.

Author's Notes:

"discover the ancient secret device, and, with it, how to successfully claim the one million dollar prize" (p. vii, "Maranatha - Et in Arcadia Ego")

"in this book, is a 'secret', a 'Key', that will affect the very course of history." (p. vii)

"a very powerful 'truth', a knowledge so valued that it became priceless, protected, and secret.....its presence can be seen in the first orderings of civilization" (p. xi)

=============

As Truth is eternal those who knew its immense and
fearful value, vouchsafed that its meaning would not be
lost. They devised a 'Key', a device that in its very form
the 'Great Work' could be rediscovered and understood by
those considered worthy. It was designed as an item that
could be easily hidden but once discovered would prove
itself as conclusive evidence of its power and meaning."
(p. xii)

There are other comments, but I believe these give a sense to what was presented regarding the Prize of the Maranatha puzzle. The clues themselves are another area to explore for context.

In reviewing these quotes, to me, it seems apparent that they are not pointing to a Geometric shape as the Key.

I yield that the (any claimed) Geometric shape might be a demonstration of encoded steps in the Maranatha puzzle. I have not found this to be the case. As well, I am of the mindset that an organization such as Freemasons, while containing secrets, does not present any earth-shattering / personal-quest-ending path - but will gladly consider any information to the contrary.

Now, to a few remarks about Geometry.

3. .
“The puzzle can be solved, and claimed, from the comfort of your own home. … It takes no special knowledge to solve” (p. vii, emphasis mine)

( HT, let your imagination run with the first part of the quote … e.g. as relates, ´‘Discover the word and write without a pen to answer without a letter’ “ or internet, or even smoke signals.)

Brief Summary of Maranatha Puzzle

Launched in 2005, the puzzle entitled Maranatha – Et in Arcadia Ego challenged readers to the discovery of a ‘Key’; a protected and historic lost secret. By way of a small red puzzle book, the authors sought to release a powerful understanding in the best way thought possible. The puzzle guided searchers each on their own journey in effort to prepare and help searchers realize the hidden Truth for themselves.

Because unforeseen circumstances arose, the initially planned puzzle competition and support from the puzzle authors ended in early 2011. This left searchers of the choice to continue the adventure without further aid of the puzzle’s creators. A geometric shape of a Hexagram on tilt was later given as a representation of the Puzzle Key by Duncan Burden, but the Key’s complete significance eludes, and it’s use towards the ultimate discovery of the Holy Grail remains to be achieved

Hi Duncan,

Does the Grail of the Maranatha series allow one to literally transmute metals as in the story of Flamel, or is that all symbolic? ~ NateB

No, it’s symbolic. It’s about a theory that begins in essence with the Pythagorean schools; that nature and creation are ruled and understood by mathematics and, more directly, expressed in Geometric form.

This concept extended through the Renaissance and was still openly taught in the early 20th century under classical studies. Flamel’s transmutation is an allegorical investigation of geometry in the physical reality. D
This quote, I believe, opens up a perspective on the use of Geometry, but perhaps Duncan is not (or 'can' not) openly express what he wants to say.

The Sun rules Gold.
Studying the Kabbalah tree gives the best explanation.

An important aspect to keep in mind is how the influence of Saturn is both ruler on the higher scale of time/manifestation (3rd of 10th) as well as the mundane aspect of physical manifestation (10th of 10th). Gold is the center, balance of the whole tree.

I'll write more when i get a chance. On vacae.

6. BTW- It is my personal belief that the geometry is just another way to explain the idea, but perhaps more effective/convincing because it is a discovery that appeals to the rational mind.

What, then, do you make of Duncan's explicit solution to the puzzle which presented a geometric shape as the key?

Astree,
Don't you think though that each person saw whatever they wanted in the LRB and each went off down their own road - and then unsurprisingly each found the journey edifying - as the 'journey' was what they subconsciously wanted to follow anyway?
History, religion, maths, codes, masonry, rlc, mystery, arks, rods, good/bad, ancient artifacts,..... a mix made to appeal.

So, without the reasoning behind the Key (or should I say, how the Key fits with the text and clues specifically), then each person will always feel that their 'solution' matches 'their expectation' better.

I'm not sure id D still plans to release the PDF that explained all this, I guess not given the new Blog.

To me there are still so many questions left unanswered related to the essence of the puzzle and the way the puzzle was handled that I personally have doubts over the puzzle in general. Maybe the Blog will go some way to alayimg some of my doubts - just a case of wait and see again.

Horace, if you go to post #3 and similar quotes, it seems very clear to me that the 'geometric shape as the key' solution is at odds with how the puzzle was presented.

I don't know what to make of the solution, or the motivation for presenting it as such. I can follow it, but makes no sense in the context of the audience the book was presented to.
