Thanks everybody for the congrats - much appreciated. I didn't unearth the map myself, I have a friend who lives much closer to the spot, so they kindly agreed to dig it up. I decided that time was probably of the essence given the rate of discussion on the BB! The map itself is of the old parchment type (I have a pic via phone), but it's not immediately obviously how it will be 'solved' - at least the time pressure's off now!

My hope was that we would be able to work it out in time to go and unearth the hare over the weekend, but we'll have to see how that pans out.

As regards the solution to this point, I can at least confirm that the correct phonetic message is:

OUR MAP LIE BENEATH THE MARK WROTE IN STONES

I am happy to post the rest of the solution if that's what most people want, but I don't want to ruin it for anyone who would prefer to work with this message for a while, in the knowledge that it's correct. I'll go with the concensus of opinion.

yes cant wait to see map i have suspected since i found, this
hunt it would be a riddle, and now that the method is known, maybe not to hard well see

side note maybe fan is a something like this method too
have to look in too it more

Hello,

I haven't been doing this hunt so my method of solving is probably way off the charts lol. but here is what I noticed

Going around the map, there are 36 different symbols, so I figured A-Z 0-9 Clockwise.

Here is what I get for some of the lines on the map.

on the bottom middle 3 word line I get this

First Line: 4EGI9 FOREGININE or FOUREGININE
Second Line: JBVIK ???
Third Line: FGU3L FGUTHREEL

(Maybe those need anagrammed) lol.

At the top of the Map you see 2 symbols in a line then 1 then 2
here is what I get for those:

JC-------K-------MV Again no clue???

Then in some of the other symbols in the middle area I get:

YH9S YHNINES (NY SHINE ???)

And then in the boxed middle, big symbols I get the following:

MIDDLE- C14O CONEFOURO

or SEEONEFOURO See 140 <----if there is a book in this hunt, maybe page 140 is the key?

Well those are my observations, without knowing anything about the Hunt, Good Luck and Congrats on finding the map.

The location of the map was found by solving menagerie - you need to have completely solved menagerie and extracted the end code for it to make any sense - it will make no sense, and you will not be able to dechiper it without the solution of Mengaerie, no matter how hard you try. It's not designed to be solvable without it.
