I'm inclined to think the abscissa of some value gives us these matrix numbers, but I don't want to get too mathy.

It took years to learn that Sanborn "accidentally" omitted an S from the K2 codeblock. That's the X preceeding the final 8 characters: LAYERTWO. When you look at the code block as a 31x12, it's a nice clean 372 block. If Sanborn was focused on the block as a visual key, then it's possible he overlooked the missing S because of that focus. I noticed something today. The center area of the block also has the word TWO in it.

Oh, there's another TWO. Maybe it's making a box of letters:

    Code:
    THEYSHO
    WHEREXW
    ONLYWWT

    OK.
That's why we pay you the big bucks. Your last 4 posts are awesome. I'll just start by saying in post #70 you made an excellent summary, and somewhat deconstructed the notion that although we have found weird, and hitherto undecrypted messages (afaik) in the Morse, that we need them to proceed. I thought we were going to get birthdays or something, and line them up with the "dates" (i.e.: X, ?, etc). Perhaps even replace the roman numerals back into the text where those locations are as part of a massive character replacement scheme. Who knows?

    You said, and I agree:
    "acquire coded message...check
standard protocol: never include the key with the message, provide it separately according to E/Morse palindrome method....check
translate K1 and know to use E's as indicator, balance the E's, find the center: ABS will relate to layer keyword...check"

I remember you had some interesting work about K1 and the odd placement of E's, but I forget what it was. Maybe this could allow me to move on from my Morse fixation if it could show how the "game" gets us past K1. Surely Jefferson and Akhenaten aren't chimera, are they?

    "translate K2 and know to look for...(what?...a keyword clue centered between a new indicator?...Q's, L's, U's, O's, X's, ?'s, A's, B's, S's?"

It seems perhaps too obvious that K2 is longer than one year by seven "days". If somehow, we knew that it were to represent a leap year, then we would have known to insert the x tra character, eighth from the end, to reveal a duress code. It seems to me that your little box may very well be the "layer two" we seek, having id'd the rows.

Is that sentence in the box supposed to read "THEY SHOW WHERE EX W ONLY WW T"?

Speak oh muse, let thy inspiration flow.

I forgot, I thought the NAC interpretation of the coordinates, i.e.: 8K42K - which in NACspeak is actually the abscissa. Reverse: 8 x 24 = 192. 8 x 42 = 336 = the size of K3 (which you sorta didn't know at the end of K2) So modulo 192 from (0,0) on k3 CT produces the known plaintext. Even if I got it wrong, 8, 24 and 42 tell me everything I need to know to get K3. Reinforcing it, the release to the public of NAC coincides with Kryptos receiving general publicity, in 2003.

So I have that step, and it sorta doesn't matter how I got it. It's too neat, too perfect.

And K2 has a lot of baggage left behind if we assume it's that easy. The fact that modulo 26 counting of the coordinates taken as 6 individual 2 digit numbers produces "Rhyme L" in reverse is an example. What the hell?

I thought I responded to your post a couple days ago but I don't see it. Not sure I remember all of what I said, sorry.

I still don't understand NAC. When I find the time I'll work on getting up to speed.

    I don't sense a connection to Rhyme L.

I'm feeling very brain tired. Will be back sometime soon.

I found the pic while googling the date. I'm a fan for sure.
