    Erexere,
I'm starting to get excited again. I had to do a bit of a mental purge. I think you remember a few weeks ago: I get like this. It has its rewards.

Anyway, I hope your ears have been burning: I was contacted last week by a very smart guy (or girl- who knows?) who drops in on my section of the ward every now and then. He's obviously aware of your work and thinks highly of it. Towards moving forward, I want to stop posting on this particular thread, and pick up on the new one you started: I'm sure we'll be back here again, but we have clearly evolved our efforts beyond the Morse, and I think, we are becoming more team oriented.

I was somewhat ashamed to discover in the article you posted about the new "clue", the other "teams" have cool names and perhaps even mascots. What!? Why was I not informed of this? If I catch those Old Skool Cryps representing their colors on our turf there's going to be trouble. I don't know what kind of pan-Pacific power play they're trying to pull here, but Asia, Jack, is my territory...

And those Brownies! Always needing explanation for the "apples" joke: so tiring: they're a menace around here every spring when they invade our beloved swamp for their annual lesson in seamanship. I can only imagine their group think sessions as appearing like a solution attempt at the old Shakespeare vs 100 monkeys with typewriters conjecture.

I propose team Erexere/ Magicicada shall henceforth be known to the news media as: Flaming Dragon. What if the NY Times or Wired wants to get in touch with us? Also, we're not exactly doing so hot at attracting new monks to our temple. Maybe it's our marketing.

Furthermore, what if one of these other punk ass outfits wants to call us out for a Rap Battle or Dance Off or something like that? What do we do then? We'll let those OSC's do their Shao Lin Drunken Monkey style for a while, before we bust out the Wu Tang liquid sword style and slice right to the core of the sculpture's meaning.

This is starting to feel like a chapter in Zen and the Art of Magicicada Maintenance. I think we're making progress even when we take purge breaks. I'm not especially proud of any major breakthroughs yet, so I dont expect any journalist types to contact us yet.

I might agree about the Morse. We do seem done with it.

Agreed. Les Grossman called me a few minutes ago and boy was he angry. Apparently, they have the rights to Flaming Dragon. Here's how it went down: Oh well.

We have a Wu Li vibe anyway.

Your Persig reference took me to Zukav in a perfect circle.

You dance while the cicada sings!

Nobody will get that until they finally get it.

Over and out. I have ideas about this clock crib, and I'm all about that base.

    Thanks

I dig. Something about our isolated efforts led me to J.Krishnimirti. I have the Flame of Attention floating around here somewhere.

The clock, I think, is a reference to a meeting place. Maybe its where analog meets digital. Or John Henry meets the steam drill.

K0 gives PALIMSOT, palindrome and palimpsest are on same page of dictionary.
K1 decodes using PALIMPSEST, absence and abscissa are just one entry apart in my dictionary.
    K2 decodes using ABSCISSA, (3x) ? and (5x) X are 3+5=8 of the 373 characters (373-8=365) suggests a calendar year.
K3 contains confirmation that applying a calendar may coincide a date with a misspelling in K1. It gives us an Q and X which may suggest the use of a particular alphabet or length. Maybe the alphabet is purely a set of dates?

    K = 924, Sept. 24th, R = 925, Y = 926, P = 927, T = 928, O = 929, S = 930, A = 1001, B =1002, C = 1003, and so on.

This might be an interesting way to inflate K4 into a large string of digits. Gonna have to think more about this.

Or something like this might be the foundation for a mask:

    Code:

    Combine September 25th w/ 23rd

I'm thinking of some process that involves mapping a keyed alphabet to dates,

    Code:

Transcribe alphabet to calendar, then apply P/C method on that system

    Code:
    KRYPTOSABCDEFGHIJLMNQUVWXYZKRYPT	DEC.
    OSABCDEFGHIJLMNQUVWXYZKRYPTOSAB	NOV.
    CDEFGHIJLMNQUVWXYZKRYPTOSABCDEFG	OCT.
    HIJLMNQUVWXYZKRYPTOSABCDEFGHIJL	SEPT.
    MNQUVWXYZVKRYPTOSABCDEFGHIJLMNQU	AUG.
    VWXYZKRYPTOSABCDEFGHIJLMNQUVWXYZ	JUL.
    KRYPTOSABCDEFGHIJLMNQUVWXYZKRYP	JUN.
    TOSABCDEFGHIJLMNQUVWXYZKRYPTOSAB	MAY
    CDEFGHIJLMNQUVWXYZKRYPTOSABCDEF	APR.
    GHIJLMNQUVWXYZKRYPTOSABCDEFGHIJL	MAR.
    MNQUVWXYZKRYPTOSABCDEFGHIJLMN FEB.
    QUVWXYZKRYPTOSABCDEFGHIJLMNQUVWX	JAN.
