Thread: Musical collaboration?

Any lyric-writers out there?

I noticed a few threads with poetry/other writing. I've been trying to write some new songs recently and just cannot stand any of the lyrics I write so if anyone wants to help out w/lyrics then please post away. I would be most grateful.

Its a semi-serious effort as I will be recording the music at home and music is just a hobby for me. But I am very critical about what I do musically so I will be doing the best I can. I've been playing guitar for over 10 years and messing around writing/recording for a couple of years (don't have much/any of a singing voice, but know a few people who might sing).

Examples of styles I'm going for + influences are: Simon and Garfunkel, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Van Morrison, Beatles (plus John Lennon's solo stuff), (pre-disco) Bee Gees, Jethro Tull, etc. Basically classic/acoustic rock type stuff. Very opened ended though for lyrics, just nothing too cliche.

Thanks 12pm, I don't have music for any full songs written yet, I was hoping to write the music around some lyrics. But I'll put a few song ideas together and upload.

And maybe my first post made it sound too serious or picky. This is just for fun so anyone who might want to try writing some lyrics or have some you'd like to hear some music around I'll do my best to try and make some music for them.

I'm intrigued. Is there a specific topic you are interested in? I love to write poetry, and writing a song would be interesting....

Hi LI, I hadn't really thought about any specific topics for lyrics, I think any topic will work if the words are descriptive and it flows well. To be honest music has taken a backseat recently to a puzzle I'm creating (which I hope to post here soon) but I'm always interested in writing songs. If you have any poetry you think might work or have some ideas for song lyrics please feel free to post them.

Hi..Been writing playing performing on and off for some years now..Things have been in hiatus since I got sucked into the Maranatha thing-Got quite a back-catalogue of material/lyrics etc....Some demo'd,others fully produced,loads in bits...Passably incompetant on a variety of intruments and vocals...
Be nice to either let someone else see what they can do with some of it or maybe even collaborate some.
Style?-Me (Most definitely!),Floyd,Lennon etc..
