Last night - I was trying to see what the coord were for Christmas Island and the Keeling Islands.
Wonder if we are going to any of those islands now!

Puzzle 17 (opens May 23) - Indian Ocean

3. 10:21 and my screen still hasn't loaded yet

4. Got an email.

Hello,
You're ready to enter uncharted territory.

The clues you need to find the next destination will show up. Get your Pirate Chart out and explore the unknown.................

(is that the compass rose in the first puzzle?)

Then it has a link to click to go to the hunt.

5. Finally!

The narration:

There on the border
of world and white
I saw 16 winds
all with the same sight.

6. The email is also showing pics of 4 previous puzzles.
~A native in Sentinel
~The domino dragon in Singapore
~The floating lanterns in Krakatau
~South of Java

Looking for a significance.

7. Fold your map where the central white circle is - the spot with the four dots that would be the four directions. Make 16 folds for a compas rose effect. Draw lines on those 16 folds for your corridnates. eight of them.

The coordinates you have listed are correct but the method is not.

Here is a link to a diagram of the correct method posted by Presidenten:

Posted on the "Java Part 2" thread here:

Although Presidenten posted the correct coordinates, it seems he may not have been the first to solve the puzzle. All I know is, it sure wasn't me!

9. Jbell, I didn't get an email. Did everyone else??

also, how did you get the right coordinates with the wrong method? pretty impressive!

wilhouse

10. Nah wilhouse! Not impressive at all!

Have been working on these with a friend of mine. He emails me stuff and I email him stuff. Some times he gets the solve before me and some times vice versa.

He gave me that way to solve - then later the coord - this time he got the solve. So I just posted what I had in case any tweleve peeps needed help. I find out that he used the alternative method in using the compass rose shown in this challenge. He cut and past to make a map with the twirlly image. I hope to be able to open my email soon - which I can't - having the dreaded IE connection problems here. As soon as I can I will post the image he emails me. With all my probs with connections this time - I was glad to just get the coord. Now I have many lines drawn on my map. Good thing I have several maps.

Anyone need a new one cause theirs is trashed. I have just a few left. pm me if you do. I will mail them to you.

I have so many lines now - I don't know what to read.

Anyway! Glad I could finally get on here - click a link - and get anything other than an IE connection problem page.

On the next puzzle - do you hear sounds? Kinda like what would sound like cannon fire underwater.

Again, will post the image when I can retreive it. If anyone else has one similar - post away please.
