Default The Quest For The Prize

    Hi,

Looks like The Quest For the Prize by Keith Dyne is a new armchair treasure hunt.

Published at the end of October 2008, apparently it is a whodunit with a treasure hunt around England.

I have the book on order so can't tell you much more, but if you are interested see the Barnes and Noble website where they have the full book synopsis and customer reviews

The Quest For The Prize, Keith Dyne, Book - Barnes & Noble

Thanks, Writerian - looks pretty cool. There's a discussion thread about the hunt in the Community Room at Barnes & Noble:

    Dear treasure seekers,

Apologies for being a wet towel, but the cover art and description of this book are remarkably similar to a recent scam treasure hunt called "The Mystery of Alex and the Greatest Dream". The two "praise" reviews on the main site (one by eager "participant" JakeTheMan) should raise doubts in even the mildest skeptic, and were probably written by the same person (an insider, I highly suspect).

Don't be seduced by religious overtones, superficial puzzle-like elements, or the promise of a prize. This is very likely to be a scam.

    Trover beware.

    Hi again,

Here's some suggestive evidence to indicate that this is a scam. First, go to the Barnes and Noble webpage for this book at:

The Quest For The Prize, Keith Dyne, Book - Barnes & Noble

Note the awkwardly detailed "praise" review by JennyH03 where she described the book as having a "neat twist".

    Next, go to this website:

The Quest for the Prize by Keith Dyne - The Richard & Judy Book Club Message Board

Here we find the exact same phrase used by a different poster who begins the thread, and then JennyHO3 joins in to carry on the conversation.

Of course, this isn't proof that would hold up in a courtroom, but everything about this feels like a few individuals setting up an enthusiastic smokescreen for another scam hunt.

Thanks for the input, Calvin. I didn't read through the posts on the forum.

    Hi Treasure Hunters,

I read the book, and I read the post by Calvin. I am active with JennyH03 on the RichardandJudy forum. I don't think its a scam, its just a treasure hunt. I checked also the Barnes and Noble site, where JennyH is also active as well (as she says she was), together with a guy called Jake. He also replied to Calvins comments, and stated quite clearly it is not a scam since it is not a competition. Anyway, I liked the book and I am trying to work out where the prize is stored so if any of you want to join in then let me know.....

    Dennis.
