Thanks for the video Domino. You kept saying how great a job us Twelevers did, but I kind of feel like we missed the boat. XD

Thanks to Steve (and the whole band) for the hunt, too. I'll keep an eye out for another one by you guys.

But for now, maybe I'll check out the Cowboy hunt? I feel like I need a hunt to tide me over.

Congrats on finding that key Domino! I was not following this hunt, but news travels fast in the armchair treasure hunting community! I watched your video. I do have one comment/question. I thought that you were not allowed to bury things in State Parks. Why do you think the author of this hunt did that?

    Hey Beth,

No idea. But, as you could see, it wasnt very deep at all. I imagine that anyone doing a hunt that needs to stay put and not be accidentally discovered would need to bury it, or put it under a highly unlikey and barely immovable rock. In any case, a true hunt may not follow the regular rules of the road. I treat everything as a cautious claim to what could tunr out to be just about anything.

I do know that most of the treasures of the world that have yet to be discovered are sure to be somewhere that you might not just be able to walk into and grab out of a plastic container hid under some loose brush. So I tread lightly and plan accordingly...I hope to score one of those big treasures some day.

    Happy Holidays,

    Domino

    Domino,
When trying to solve a hunt, I immediately rule out places like state parks and national parks, knowing that one is not allowed to bury anything there. It seems somewhat unfortunate that the author of this book did bury something in a state park. I would guess that some people (like I would have if I was working on this hunt), may have bypassed any ideas about this state park, and any others, because they are aware of the rules. I suppose though, the phrase "anything goes" can be used in this instance, and probably with a lot of other hunts.

Excellent find, Domino! Great video!! I lived in Durham 2 years, Raleigh 4 years, and Chapel Hill 3, and have been to Eno several times -- I love that park. A great setting for a treasure hunt.

Did Steve ever release a complete breakdown of this treasure hunt? I really enjoyed the music and going on several fun leads. I attempted to contact him but never got a response.

I looked and looked around but it seems the people responsible for the silver key just let things go without fully explaining their hints. I understand Domino was able to recover the key after the hunt expire date but it seems unacceptable to drive people in the direction of Eugene, Oregon and then say it was buried in North Carolina. I truly appreciate their integrity in designing and concluding a treasure hunt but I wish some of the "key" components weren't left unexplained.

Gotta love how its been over 6 years and I still want some explaination...lol.

Domino's video is really all the information we ever got, as far as I've heard. I mean, he was speaking directly with Steve while he was out there in the park. The video also shows some notes, but I think it was basically a sum-up of Twelevers' posts and Domino's private stash of theories.

It's all right. I still want explanations (and more hunts), too! Silver Key was definitely unique and a lot of fun.

Ever since you posted this, I've been thinking about this hunt. XD So thank you for that (I still love the music).

I remember at some point, Steve let us know about how the hint song (There are 1,2,3,4,5 Hints Hidden in the Silver Key) was a hint. It had to do with the one track on the CD that was full of all the random lines of story, and how the ones with "gold" in them were garbage ("...is it fool's gold?"), while the FIVE with the word "silver" in them were the right ones to pursue. It lined up where if it was line 3, it referred to track 3 on the CD, etc. "First the state, then the city, then it's down to the nitty-gritty..."

I want to go back to see if I can "solve" the hunt using this information. When the hunt was live, Steve talked about maybe doing another one, and I'm pretty bummed that he isn't going to. :/
