Default The Lost Symbol Found - Grand National Cipher Challenge

    Hi,

Looks like a new hunt called The Grand National Cipher Challenge is just about to get underway.

It appears to have something to do with the book called "Apollyon Rising 20012 - The Lost Symbol Found and the Final Mystery of the Great Seal Revealed" and is only open to US citizens aged 18 and over.

The grand prize winner will win $10,000 and a valuable top secret 200 year old enigmatic item.

To learn the riddle of the true lost symbol you must solve a series of 11 clues (starting with the one on their website now) which become increasingly more challenging over the 11 week contest.

The contest officially begins on 9th November 2009 when the second clue will be posted. A new clue will be appear every Monday thereafter for those who solve the preceding clues as each clue will lead you to the next one.

The first clue in the Lost Symbol Found Grand National Cipher Challenge can be found here along with a video explaining the challenge:

    Thanks Writerian!

I saw your post on this yesterday, looked at the clue and then thought about it. I figured it out in my head thinking about it tonight. I got to clue 2, but have to wait until Nov. 9th for the next one.

This looks like it might be fun. Wonder if you need the book to solve later clues?

I also just tried the pigpen cipher on the page and did not get anywhere.
Checking Wiki it says the pigpen cipher was invented by the free masons.

    Hi Garbers,

I tried the PigPen Cipher too, ended up with a whole bunch of meaningless letters. I'm guessing its a two-layer cipher, but not had a chance to look at it yet as I'm pondering over the strange codes in the Aran Islands treasure hunt.

If I figure it out I'll let you know just in case its an important clue in the challenge as I can't enter being that I'm over in the UK.

Thanks Writerian, Too bad you can't enter the contest.
I just a bunch of random letters too.
Some were repeated which could be "ee" or "oo".
i'll work on it a little more.

Just look at the first few numbers of the code.

    23 23 23 .

This should be a giveaway for you

    Thanks Cryptic,

    Got that ....

Its the the PigPen cipher at the bottom of the page that has us stumped at the mo as when you decipher the code you don't get plaintext - have you any ideas on that?
