    Default Jeep Tiki Hunt

    Hi,

Another new hunt for those of you living in the USA ....

Jeep are calling for all problems-solving, thrill-seeking, adventure-hunting, super-sleuths to find the three individual Jeep Tikis—Jeep Steel, Jeep
Wave and Jeep Trail they have secretly hidden in 3 locations within the Unites States

You have to look for and solve the clues they release on their website, (Jeep®), Facebook and twitter.

But you are going to have to be quick as the hunt was launched on 1st April and ends on 17th May 2010.

The first clue has already been published and the second is due to be published on 12th April and then it looks like they'll be released weekly until the last one on 10th May.

A link to the rules can be found at the bottom of the page and you'll find some press coverage here (including a video of a sandbox jeep hunt) on the auto channel.

Good luck - hope someone here wins

Just so you dont go looking just yet:

"Contestants may visit the Websites anytime during the Clue and Answer Phase and utilize the clues and answers posted to attempt to determine the Mystery Location of each hidden Tiki. NOTE: The actualTikis will not be physically hidden in their Mystery Locations until April 26, 2010 and Contestants should not attempt to physically locate a Tiki prior to April 26, 2010. Contestants should only attempt to physically locate and retrieve a Tiki by traveling to a potential Mystery Location during the “TikiHunt Phase,”

One of the three hidden tikis, the "Wave", was found last week on the boardwalk at Venice Beach, CA.

Well looks like I am moving on to the CO tiki. I was in Santa Monica / Venice a couple days before he found it too looking for it. However I was looking more in Santa Monica than Venice but still probably came with in 500 feet of the tiki. You live and you learn.

Me too. I even ran from VB to Santa Monica pier to check things out. I think I got distracted by a popular TV series filming in Venice.

I noticed they said someting about a "planter" and were vague about digging on teh Venice story. funny thing, the photo where the guys are jumping holding the tiki, I stopped right there and was thinking about other treasure hunts because that little palm tree island (one of many landscaped along the bike and wlaking path of the beaches) had vagrants camped out on it. I thought of the MAD MAD WORLD final location and the Giant V sculpture of Venice Beach and then saw these guys camping out and setting up shop and thought "what if someone buried a treasure or hunt item in one of those spots?" They'd be literally sleeping on top of them.

This is not to say that this hasnt happened with other hunts. I can image folks have slept, pissed, puked and possibly poked on and around where some of those were buried in the Secret.

Thanks nick, let us know if you grab a story on Steel.

(So, we have LA, Chicago...gee I wonder where the last one will be...NY? D.C.? Miami?)

From the Jeep site the Tiki Wave was found last Wednesday the day before I was there. From reading the story the guy was lucky because he actually had to go to the location (J's Rentals) to get a bike part and it was in the planter there. I believe had he not had to go there the Tiki Wave would still not be found until clue 5 came out. The story wasn't posted on the Chrysler Blog until two days later. You can see the story from the link posted above.

As for the Tiki Steel it was found last Friday but was not announced until yesterday on twitter with a picture. It was found on Navy Pier in the Crystal Gardens near the rear left exit. No story on the Chrysler Blog on this one. Here is the twit pic

The Tiki Trail is still out there and the answer to clue 4 was Golden, CO which could be easily deduced from the clue and people had posted they had been searching the city. But clue 5 is now out and with a little google fu you can easily find the location the clue is talking about. I believe it will be found shortly (if not tonight, tomorrow morning based on available sunlight or if the hunters bring flashlights).

I have to say this started out well for Jeep but it has gone straight downhill. Had they posted the finds in a timely manner people like me wouldn't have wasted their time and money trying to find it. The latest clue (clue 5) for the tiki trail was a false clue it was then taken down (I did not have a chance to see this false clue as I was working) and the correct clue was put up at about 4 pm pst over a day late as clues are supposed to come out on a Monday. When they did post the clues there was not a set time that the clues and answers came out either on a Monday it ranged anywhere from morning to afternoon. Also it was said by someone who looked for the tiki steel that Crystal Gardens was closed for three of the days she went looking for it. It seems that if they (Jeep or a Chrysler subsidiary) do this again they need to learn from this experience and be more on point.
