Thanks for the post MDC, this looks like it could be quite an interesting hunt.

I'm still waiting for the book to arrive!

I ordered it mid-June via Amazon.com as its not available in the UK. Had to pay an extra $12.48 to get it shipped via Expedited Int'l Shipping but the expected delivery date isn't until 15th July

Its beyond me why things take so long to get here - 4 or 5 days I can understand but a whole month! I Dread to think how long it would take it was travelling by regular mail.

I take that back, I'm astounded! Got home from work tonight and there it was, Captain Cooked. Can't be bad - 10 days earlier than expected

Anyone else planning to do this hunt?

I'm going to buy the book but as far as the hunt I don't see taking a trip to Hawaii anytime soon.

I would be happy to share thoughts on here tho.

I use to live on the Big Island, Kona side. Know it pretty well and still have friends there. Wont do the hunt but can help out anyone with questions I might have some insights into. Kalua pua'a, Lomilomi salmon. hmmmmm good. Just ask. Good Luck.

I picked up the book today and was going to ask the same thing. Is there anyone on the big island that can search locations? Right on the "Join the Hunt" page he puts Lat/Long which looks like it is in the middle of a field.

From what I can tell I think there are several geocaches to find and what is inside those caches are the clues to find the shark club.

Here is the Lat/Long from the "Join the Quest" page.

    N 19 54. 893' W 155 48. 960'

Anyone know someone that can go check that location out?

This is from the forum and the guy on Hawaii that is maintaining the caches...

Along with an intriguing tale and tasty Hawaiian recipes, the book contains coordinates for series of hidden containers placed around the island where there will be hints to be found leading to the final location of a war club redeemable for a cash prize.

Known as "geocaching", this game-within-a-mystery is a high-tech treasure hunt that uses GPS technology to find the cache vicinity, then plain old poking around to search out the spot where the actual cache container is hidden, often in devious and artful ways.

So I'm thinking this location given in the intro to the quest could have a cache with a welcome to the hunt sort of thing in it or possibly a clue.

There is a geocache at those coordinates, I am not sure if you can see the listing without being logged in, but just in case, the cache is Cave Hole Cache.
