Default We Lost Our Gold - Episode 6

I had a little inspiration while watching the new Sherlock Holmes movie last night. There was a scene near the end where he sits and muddles over all the clues to the case, and keeps murmuring the phrase "Whatever it takes". I thought of Episode 6.

There is a clue scene showing an address to send away for some GA stuff

I went to Google Maps and searched for Casper, WY 82602 and got the most curious map.

A singular affair! No roads, towns, features, nothing! Only "Whatever It Takes"!

Whatever, indeed. I called the phone number on the GA advertisement and heard a recording with the following wining lottery numbers: 20 17 16 14 21 12 , and 8 (treasure ball).

Those numbers are a cryptogram for "ORTUNE F", or reading the treasure ball first, FORTUNE.

There is more in episide 6 not generally available

    It's not a place, it's a yearning. It's not a race, it's a journey.

Yes, that was the p.o. box I was referring to. Did you also google the Pittsburg expo mall?

Pretty clever stuff on both ends.

    Default GA ad page

The ad contains at least two slightly disguised characters. By the words "WORKOUT KIT" there are an S and a C, connected by a line formed in the shape of a large C around the flexed bicep. The S and C at least are definitely letters, not just squiggles that sort of look like letters. But two characters is not much of a clue, since it can't be South Carolina.

They could be more subway clues I suppose, as if we needed more... We just got off the subway in this episode, apparently.

I posted something in the other thread regarding the lotto ball number, but I like Fortune better. I didn't even catch that and once again I tried to make things harder then they were. Ignore my other post.

Wait a minute, I just took a quick glance at the post and didn't really think about it. How do you know it's a cryptogram for FORTUNE? If we were using simple substitution, then it could be really anything. There's not enough frequency (actually there is no frequency at all) to make that assumption. I think I will go back to my rotate cipher to "ebay fws" idea, unless you can clarify how you came to this.

I came to (F)ORTUNE by using Decrypto. I had the treasure ball at the end, and it spit out "ORTUNE F", and I thought it clever to single out the treasure ball last meaning you had to move one of the numbers.

It is not necessarily correct. So feel free to keep searching eBay for those coins.

I'm not working on this hunt since I live in Casper, but I found it curious that they went to this much trouble just to have a phone# that gives a "non=clue"...so I've done some sleuthing." Whatever It Takes" does have a PO Box downtown, but not he one listed. I've found out a lot of other stuff. If anyone is intersted, just let me know!
