I signed up and watched the show, then went to the video. It took my answer, but I am not sure if it accepts incorrect answers (without telling you).

I missed the airing. Is it possible to view a recording of it from somewhere?

I imagine that the episode will be on their website eventually, maybe after a one-week delay? Go ahead and create an account. From there, after I logged in, there was a link in a side column which implied the episode was viewable, or at least important exerpts would be. I tried to play that video, just curious to see how much of the episode (and the clues) they were making available, but the thing locked up my browser. The site is very Flash-dependent, and the video player opened in a new window which required even more Flash, so I'm going to try again on my office computer tomorrow.

Yes -you can access a truncated version of the show where they included the sections that had "hidden" clues - at least for week #1 right from the History channel.

You probably know this my now, but it goes blue (the bar) when it's correct.

Default Blurs in D.B. Cooper episode?

    Anybody doing the Decoded puzzles?
Last's week's (the D.B. Cooper episode) was an easy solve, but there was something else going on in the episode.
In several shots, especially when the investigators were in the library, there were blurred rectangles in the background. I know this is common TV practice. They often blur or pixelate brand names, logos, etc.
But in the library scenes (which I recorded on my DVR), the words that were blurred were book title & author names - and they were clearly visible in other shots. There was also a poster for the Tacoma Opera. Sometimes you could clearly read "Tacoma Opera" and sometimes it was blurred. They did the same thing with airline names. They were blurred in one shot and clearly visible in the next.
These had absolutely nothing to do with this week's official puzzle.
    Anybody else catch this?
What do you make of it?
    Red herring?
    Inconsistent editing?
    Clue to... something?

Maybe we are supposed to be paying attention to all those things for the final solve. I hope not because I haven't noticed the blurred images that you mentioned.

The blurred book titles may simply be a clue for the episode that used the book code and the airlines may be reinforcing the initial clue of the D.B. Cooper episode. I doubt it though-I think these puzzles are simple enough with just the initial clue in the beginning logo.

I think the final solve will utilize all ten words somehow. I've been trying to figure out what to do with them-no clue. They're so random.

I think I may have recorded the last two episodes. If so,I'll go back and have a look for the blurred images.

Anyway-the show is interesting and my 11 year old son gets a kick out of looking for the clues.

I think it was just sloppy editing. I noticed the same thing in another episode.

If you read the official rules, we'll have to put the weekly words into a crossword puzzle to arrive at another word and that will give us access to the final puzzle - which may be a little harder than what we've seen so far.

There's no indication that we will need anything else from the episodes.

I can confirm that I needed nothing other than the 10 weekly answers (and my favorite solving tools) to reach the inner sanctum and solve the Grand Prize Puzzle.

Good luck to my fellow sweepstakes random drawing competitors!
