    Hi TIM,

It seems the forum runners decided there were too many lurkers and recently purged the membership list of people who had never posted. They also made the forum viewable only by registered members. I think you may be able to re-register, but you might have to use a different Email address.

I had registered on that site and been a member for only five days. I had very little time to read the book, read the posts, let alone post anything. I was permanenly banned too. I agree it is a site where teamwork is very helpful. But I suppose they want to limit it to a select few active members. At least that is the impression I get. I find it quite unfair for a "public" forum.

Also, using a forum where you are forced to post seems like a bad idea anyway. People will post just so they don't get banned. There will be a lot of useless information that everyone has to read through, rather than important information.

I have tried to contact their Admin but have been ignored.

Thanks for the information. I've emailed the forum admin - hopefully they let me join. Or i might use another email. I think that might not work either as it said the IP address was banned. Failing that if someone transcribed all 180 Long/Lats I'm sure that would get you in.

by the way anyone buying the book I recommend 100% that you buy the deluxe version which is bigger and more expensive. The puzzle requires very tiny detail spotting. Unfortunately I got the normal sized one. now where is that magnifying glass?

So I joined the Board at Glabl Tresure Hunt and I seem to get in ok. I just did it like four days ago though so maybe I snuck in after the purge I have not posted anything yet just lurking. Its interesting to see people who know what some of the actual places are. Yet I don't think it really matters for the final answer.

If you get in to the board it tells you that the answer to puzzle two was Las Vegas Nevada. Kinda an easy one as stated by Tim D himself.

The solution does show that there are clues in some of the coordinates and in some of the thumbnail pictures around the border. Although a few seemed to be a bit obscure.

I guess I better go back over and post something so I can stay on. But I prefer it over here maybe we should get a thread going.

The solution to Puzzle 2 was in the Telegraph which came out on Saturday, November 5th. You can most likely find it on line. I was rather disappointed in the way the solution was derived.

It would be nice to get something going here on this forum. However, it doesn't seem that too many people here on tweleve are interested. You would think there would be more interest because the prize is large, and it is backed by Google Earth. And you never have to leave your arm chair.

I wasn't that impressed with the solution either. All the clues were fine until it came to the last part. The problems is the roads. I couldn't manage to get the road shape to match anything in particular using google maps or earth. Also how they get the outline of Las Vegas to be that shape is beyond me. I've tried adding all the extra info in Google earth but none came out anything like that shape. Which made getting the angle of the road leaving LV hard. Then they don't follow the main roads down - also the two maps are skewed at different angles. Then I can see that you could get to roughly near the Devils Playground (because of the slide and the swing) but how you get to exactly Kelso Dunes Field I don't get. There are many dunes in that area. So I'm not sure how important the Kelso part is as the rest of the puzzle is to unfold but it looked a tricky last step to get there.

Is there an equally tricky last step in the others that are pretty much solved

Puzzle 1: is it stonhenge? or somewhere nearby (the star on that page is in the english channel)
    Puzzle 2: Kelso Dune Fields
Puzzle 3: Belize (to the NW of that masonry temple)
Puzzle 4: Somewhere near to the Lyon

For puzzle 4 is there a little star on the painting - top right - this would place the answer somewhere near lake geneva??? this would tie in with the Rhone - clued by bottle and grape pressing references in text. And the swiss guard in the bottom bubbles.

I'm assuming the stars point to the solutions on each page.

    Tiny,

Which book do you have? Your numbers don't seem to match up to my book. I have the large coffee table edition.

I didn't work much on the Google hunt this week. Once I was "banned" from the other site for not posting in the entire five days that I was a member there, I put the book aside. But I did go over the solution for puzzle 2. It did seem that the "star" was the location solution. And since there is a star on every page, I would guess that it will be the same for each puzzle. The author did say, however, that every puzzle has a location, but that is not necessarily the solution to that page. The solution can be a person or a concept.

I originally thought that Stonehenge was a no-brainer for Puzzle 1. But the star is not in the location place for Stonehenge. If we are to follow the pattern that was given to us for Puzzle 2, then I will have to go back and look at Puzzle 1 again.

Sorry I missed out a couple.
The suggested solution to 4 is Denver
    5 I don't know and
6 is Lyon (the flag) - the Rhone, Lake Geneva...?

I definitely need to get onto that other forum. Not enough action here.
