# Thread: Toxic Panda - The Great Asian Armchair Treasure Hunt

1. My book finally arrived via the Royal Air Post. No wonder it took so long. I didn't imagine it to be the thickness of a paperback. The puzzles look rather difficult!

Other than solving Chapter A, I am rather stuck. Have most of the word pars (i think) for B, but nothing makes sense yet.

3. I solved Chapter A and have moved on to B. I've got a few answers that I feel pretty certain about. For example:

4th x 21: Flourishing Municipality (eight) = Boomtown Letter = M
5th x22: Bomb City in Japan = Nagasaki Letter = S

Add 21 + 22 = 43

1st x18: Pluck Molar (9) = Xtraction Letter = X
3rd x 26: Sick Doctor looking for oil (5) = Drill Letter = I

18 + 26 = 44

Since these examples are 43 and 44, and I have the letters MSIX
I can already see the word, "SIX".

Some other pairs that I feel are correct are:
Aqua Lung + Gill
Long Run + Marathon
Possibly:
Rap + Smack

I don't have an answer for Aristocratic Batman.

A lot of my answers don't seem to pair up. So I have probably come up with some incorrect answers. But then again, I feel certain about some of them, such as these:
Pornographic Film = skin flick
Nabs Cain = Cannibis
Sinful Infamous Book = Satanic (Verses)
Random Pick = Drawing

Anyway, I really wish I could get the pairs because the next step is to apply what we found in Chapter A and those strange charts all through the book to get our answer for B. I think once we get a feel for that chart, that will be great progress.

4. ## A few more ideas

The indoor plant might be an IVY PLANT.

The SHARP LAD doesn't seem to fit in anywhere, but I can't think of anything better.

Cranium could be SKULL, BRAIN, CROWN.

Still, none of these seem to produce a pair...

5. All the pairs have the same systematic relationship. Once you have several that you are sure about, it may prove helpful to look at the grid. Also, you don't need to find all the pairs if you are clever enough to figure out what's going on.

I'm currently stuck on the final extraction of Chapter C.

6. I was thinking the indoor plant may now be POT PLANT which has an obvious match.

7. "1st x18: Pluck Molar (9) = Xtraction Letter = X"
This makes sense, however, it is kind of cheating for the author to just leave out the E when he is trying to make the whole book without them.

8. I had POT plant too - makes sense with what Molnar suggests.

9. So maybe an obvious answer PULLTOOTH? I didn't go there because of the one 9-letter word indicator.

Yeah, PULLTOOTH and ROOTCANAL could be considered as 2 words.
