    Well done, Doc.

Regarding the "X", he mentioned the "X" in a code, while saying knowing about codes will not assist one to the treasure.

Im sorry, what did I miss? Where are there three X's?

I have two cuds Ive been chewing:

    1) UPS = Brown. If it is UPS' home were talking about, then you'll always be putting in below it...

    2) I keep looking at the Periodic Table of the Elements...its a structure of alphabet letters associated with numbers: atomic listings 1=H 2=He...9=F etc, family groups I II III ... VII etc, weights, and other values. The weight of a particular element could make a good gps longitude...

Clarification on UPS: the parcel delivery company trademarked the color "Brown".

    DaisyMae,

Thanks for the heads up. I'm starting work on it. I'm off for the weekend (Hooray!), and I'm done at the office.

Barely got out in the nick of time.

    Have a great weekend!

Oh and ignore my insinuation I found a valid shift....as a newbie I probably shouldn't be trying to decrypt anything when sleep deprived & I definitely shouldn't post about it until I've double checked it....

    Thanks, DaisyMae!

Somehow I'm put in mind of that coroner's certification after struggling for eight hours or so on something that probably took Mr. Fenn about five minutes to construct.

And the sad thing is I can't stop myself.

I have over 365 days played in World of Warcraft--over 2% of my life--and this puzzle is likely to surpass that.

Don't know whether to laugh or cry--but enjoying the ride,

    Doc

    Headed to Shreveport to validate.

Featured Question with Forrest Fenn: 500 Years from Now – Mysterious Writings

Posted on August 9, 2016 by Jenny Kile

    Hello Forrest,

If in 500 years all a person has is the poem, and no back story: they don’t know “in the rocky mountains north of santa fe” or that there are 9 clues etc. Could a person reasonably just use the words in the poem and find your treasure chest?

    Thank you ~Nope

What happened to "all you need is the poem and a good map"? Now Fenn is replying to a question, and making it seem as though you definitely need more than the poem and the good map. You need to possibly know that there are nine clues (why?) and that the treasure is in the Rockies north of Santa Fe. Recall when this hunt first came out, Fenn did not supply us with that information. Why did he feel that he had to tell us that?

I am starting to really mistrust any statements Fenn makes. So many of them contradict one another.

    Genetic,

I can never tell nowdays. I'm horrendously easy to confuse. LOL.

Several years ago, I took several friends skiing in Lake Tahoe. I vividly remember one of them whizzing past me on Maggie's Run--his first time skiing--shouting, "I have absolutely NO control whatsoever! What a RUSH!"

For some reason, this puzzle puts me in mind of that. I've found stuff and more stuff that's actually got me searching for the correct spelling of 'Tatooine'.

Confused, bemused, and whizzing right along,

    Doc

PS--My friend wound up having two knee surgeries from that trip. I hope my results differ.
