I think it might be time for a break for me.

If I'm reading between the lines correctly, my family and friends are telling me they're tired of my prattle. Lunchtime, dinnertime--they've had enough.

I don't blame them in the least.

So I'll check in from time-to-time, but I won't be posting unless I've figured out I've made a mistake in my puzzling and I'll come here to correct it--I never want to deliberately mislead anyone.

Taking breaks to Dallas works; same can be said for puzzling. Recharges my batteries.

    Hoping this is right,

    Doc

Doc, sorry you're having the puzzle-blues. I just finished 2k miles of driving. 5 days in Montana and I didn't talk once about the Fenn puzzle while my family enjoyed various outdoor activities, though the whole time I was there, I thought only about the name Brown. When I went down for bed...home of Brown, woke up and brushed teeth...home of Brown, quad espresso and paddle board...home of Brown, and while driving I thought about possible homes of Brown. It was like a mantra. I never once felt certain or remotely compelled by anything. This proper noun and color remains a total mystery to me.

Today, however, I thought about it differently and not so much head on. I thought of all the words of the poem, Brown surely is of greatest importance, but the perspective that would call something "home of Brown" is not clear to me. I really just dont know.

Erexere, thank you for the kind words.

I'm a child in the kitchen.

All I want to do is help, and I thought I had, but all I do is make a mess.

And seeing my mother become disappointed with me kills a part of my soul.

    Hope you find it Erexere,

    Doc

    The Brown House
East Glacier Park Montana. Please pardon me if this has not been discussed fully in this Very long thread!

Hmm. Someone prob looked at this already but I noticed William Liston Brown owned a house on Dempster street in Evanston, Illinois just about 300 miles west of Toledo, Ohio. Mount Brown was named after him.

a couple out of the blue thoughts:
a Toledo is a brand of of weigh scale equipment.
fenn says the finder will move with confidence after studying the poem and when found it won't be accidental. An accidental in music is a note that isn't on the prescribed scale, such as a sharp, a flat, or a natural.
does fenn want for us to think of the word "scale"?
