Lightbulb Some clue assessments for the Fenn treasure

    Here is the poem again.

As I have gone alone in there
    And with my treasures bold,
I can keep my secret where,
And hint of riches new and old.

Begin it where warm waters halt
And take it in the canyon down,
Not far, but too far to walk.
Put in below the home of Brown.

From there it's no place for the meek,
    The end is ever drawing nigh;
There'll be no paddle up your creek,
Just heavy loads and water high.

If you've been wise and found the blaze,
Look quickly down, your quest to cease,
But tarry scant with marvel gaze,
Just take the chest and go in peace.

So why is it that I must go
And leave my trove for all to seek?
    The answers I already know,
I've done it tired and now I'm weak.

So hear me all and listen good,
Your effort will be worth the cold.
If you are brave and in the wood
I give you title to the gold.

    Clue One:
Begin it where warm waters halt

Could this be a dam for a reservoir - A structure that blocks a river. There are a few north of Santa Fe where Fenn lives, which are within a distance he could have driven to twice in one afternoon. That's if his starting point was Santa Fe.

    Clue Two:
And take it in the canyon down,
Not far, but too far to walk.

Go below the reservoir into the canyon. You will have to drive, so there should be a road along the river leading down into the canyon. Not too far but too far to walk. - For an 80+ year old man that is probably a mile or less.

    Clue Three:
Put in below the home of Brown.

Could this be a reference to the home of Smokey the Bear? A wooded area?

    Other Clues:
If you've been wise and found the blaze,
Look quickly down, your quest to cease,
But tarry scant with marvel gaze,
Just take the chest and go in peace.

Could this be referring to a trail head that starts at the end of an asphalt road?

    Other Clues:
If you are brave and in the wood
I give you title to the gold.

Could this be in reference to Fenn hiding the box in a large old hollow log?

Fenn has said a few times that the treasure has not been found. How would he know this? Could it be in a place that he can check on a regular basis?
