Best tool I've found is the Kindle version of the book on a Mac. You can search for any 3-character string.

What I did was convert the ebook to a txt file with Caliber. I saved that file for a full-text copy of the book for easy searching.

I saved another copy of that txt file as endgame-numbers.txt, then I did Ctrl-H find-and-replace for each letter and each punctuation mark with nothing. I went through each letter and symbol and watched as they vanished until I just had a single huge wall of numbers. It only took a couple minutes. So then if I want to find out if there is an 76534675634 in there anywhere, I can just search for it without having to worry if it's going to be missed if it shows up as $765,346,756.34 in the book.

I still have to figure out where in the book that number is, but this was a quick and dirty way to single numbers out.

Excellent idea with that caliber program only got this idea from the everything everywhere thing so might be an idea to catalogue every time and colour etc. Might help me break the next wall.

If I were to have any complaint regarding the puzzles so far, it's their tedium. Lots of painstaking gathering, and even more painful trial-and-error entering. Not quite what I expected from Mat Leibowitz, whom I consider to be a meta-puzzle wizard, but there's still time.

I totally agree with that. Am at a roadblock early into this which does not bode well to continue. They said someone MAY solve it within two years.

According to a poll by Decode Endgame on Google+, several people have made progress. There are several people on Tweleve that have gotten one iris open, including me. Progress is possible. I haven't had a lot of time to work on it, but I think it's as solvable as anything else here.
