Default Christmas Puzzle (just for fun)

    Hi all,

Every Christmas, I make a Christmas puzzle for my family and friends. Over the years (and probably because I was involved in the Logica/Pablo's ATH setting last year), it's evolved into a sort of Logica style puzzle, though not nearly as difficult. (It started as a physical hunt for immediate family, but I'm now getting requests from friends of friends, so it struck me that people here might enjoy it as well...although I suspect everyone will be busy with Logica/Pablo's!)

Anyway, it's just for fun (there is no prize), but you do get the satisfaction of saving Christmas if you complete the puzzle.

If you're interested, you can get started by downloading the two pdf documents hosted here:

All the best and Happy Christmas,

    Ingrid

This puzzle was delightful! (Yes, I reached the end, assuming I didn't miss any hidden bonus.) It is also a great introduction to the style of hunt that I have only ever seen deployed by the old Logica ATH, now called Pablo's ATH. Ingrid gives plenty of embedded hints, and the ciphers are all within the standard skillset, easily handled with free online tools. The best part is that I didn't have to write up a grueling list of everything I found just to earn points. Thank you! (And I can give hints in private, but you shouldn't need them.)

So glad you enjoyed it, catherwood!

I started designing these Christmas puzzles for my immediate family (who are not usually puzzle people, apart from the occasional crossword) and my partner's nieces and nephew (who are puzzle people, but aren't yet in their teens). The first was an actual around-the-house treasure hunt, and they've grown in complexity ever since. I've tried to make something that is satisfying, but still do-able without a lot of experience with puzzles, and full of enough stuff that even the little ones can get involved.

Anyway, so glad you had a good time (and got to the end)!
