Default Treasure Hunt: The Search for the Red Temple Treasure

Has anyone looked into this yet? Doesn't seem to be much detail on their website.

Going to the contest website and clicking on the link to the Competition Entry form, I glean a few tidbits.

    1. The title bar there says the book is by Chris Monck. A google search did not lead me to believe he has prior reputation involving puzzles.
    2. They're likely expecting several successful solvers. "All correct entries will be placed in a draw to take place on 15 April 2017. There will also be an additional prize for the first correct entry received through the website, irrespective of the draw."
    3. Be careful about guessing! Per the terms, "A maximum of two entries per person are permitted."

(The site seems to be built with Wix tools, which might mean nothing, but the home landing page has a title bar name of simply "treasure-hunt" which is lame.)

Just finished reading the eBook. Although very short it contained an interesting story filled with obvious and what seemed to be hidden clues. I'm a little miffed that we may only submit two answers, but we will just have to be confident in our solutions.

All in all I am looking forward to delving into the clues tonight!

Not me. Being a random drawing for the prize, I didn't think the contest would be worth the effort, but I don't have any idea what kind of effort is required. Could you say anything more about it? Is it similar to anything that has come before? Does it have layers of puzzles or just clues to a single solution? Is the challenge or the story alone worth the purchase price? I see no place on their website for news or updates, and they have no motivation to announce if the "first correct" entry has already been submitted. I haven't caught any outside buzz for the book, at least not in my circles.

I picked this up a few days ago. Is anyone working on it? Is it genuine? I can't quite believe that the author will give away 20,000 when the book is priced at just $2!
Some of the codes only have a handful of letters making them very tricky to crack, but I imagine the real hard work will come AFTER the code cracking.
Has anyone reached that stage yet?

Is there anything in the rules about collaboration? Would you want a team to share the work? With a team, each member could contribute their two attempts to a group effort at a solution. (I'm not interested in buying the book. I'm curious about difficult ciphers, but not ready to pitch in myself.) I haven't seen anyone else mention this hunt on any other forum, either.

There doesn't appear to anything that would stop us collaborating, BUT each person can only enter twice and the winner who gets drawn out of the hat must be able to prove purchase of the ebook. It's only $2.49 / 1.99, I say we go for it!
    Here's the full T&Cs

    Terms and Conditions
The treasure hunt is open to anyone who has purchased a downloadable copy of the book from legitimate outlets only, except for anyone directly connected with the publication. Entrants must be able to prove purchase of the book.
All entries must be submitted through the website treasure-hunt.
At the time of publication, the minimum cash prize for the draw is 20,000. We reserve the right to increase the value of this prize if sales of the book permit. The cash prize will be converted to a currency of your choice, at the rate applicable on the day of transfer.
We also intend offering a cash prize to the first correct entry received through the website, irrespective of the final draw. The exact value of this additional prize is dependent upon whether or not the value of book sales (excluding ebook publishing fees) exceeds the value of the prize fund.
A maximum of two entries per person are permitted.
Should the prize winner fail to provide evidence of a legitimate purchase of the download, the prize will be forfeited and another prize winner drawn.
We reserve the right to close the entry to the draw without notice, should the competition process be shown to be subject to a criminal act. In the interests of fairness to those who wish to partake in the treasure hunt on merit, we also reserve the right to close the entry to the competition if at any time the location of the treasure or disclosure of clues is published openly on the internet.
All correct entries submitted through the website by 31st March 2017 will be entered into the draw.
The first entry drawn will win a minimum prize of 20,000.
Entries for the competition can be submitted from 01 May 2016
Entries into the draw close at midnight on 31 March 2017
The Prize Winner(s) will be contacted by 30 April 2017
Prize Winner(s) will be announced on the Website on 01 May 2017
Clues and the treasures location will be revealed on the Website on 01 May 2017
In the unlikely event of an absence of a correct entry by the closing date, we reserve the right to extend the sale of the book and/or delay the publication of the clues, for a maximum of six further months.
In the unlikely event of no one identifying the location of the treasure, a donation equal to half the royalties received from the publication will be donated to “Make a Wish”, a charity aimed at enriching the lives of children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions.
All names and contact information submitted for the draw will be kept confidential and destroyed at the end of the competition. No information will be used for marketing or similar purposes and information will neither be sold nor shared.

Based on the clues in the story and solutions to two / three of the codes. I now believe I have a pretty good idea of where the treasure is located BUT not an exact location. I imagine the remaining codes will help with pinpointing it but they are proving to be quite tricky. I'm not a great code breaker, does anyone have any suggestions what to do when the cipher is very short and the method of encrypting uncertain?
Is anyone else working on this?
