    Hi X
Good move. I think the PDF version is crucial to solving the puzzle. The differences are very interesting and are obviously trying to tell us things...not sure exactly what!
I think we have to draw straight lines because of a number of clues...
The Romans are famous for building straight roads. The Romans are there to show us the way.
There are also quite a lot of spears and staffs including the piper's pipe. If you draw lines to extend them you find that some point to letters and other objects etc.
The lateral thinking clue (as discussed above)
"...can you read between the lines"
"...are you thinking along the right lines"
There are longitude & latitude lines on the Italy map.

    All the best

"upon the cross" well you need lines to make a cross.

    Hi TF,
Thanks. My PDF version arrived recently and I've just been through it to see how it differs to the printed book. I noticed several differences in story text, 1 poem, a few border phrases and no differences in the pictures. My personal opinion is that the PDF is the original (older) version and the differences are a combination of corrections and minor cosmetic changes. I personally doubt the differences are significant to solving the hunt because it wouldn't be fair to those people who only bought the book in one format. I think I'm going to work on the lies in the pictures first.

    Hi X
In my PDF there is a change to one of the pictures. Take a look at the Greek picture and compare it to the one in the book. The WHOLE picture is slightly shifted. Is yours the same? I think this is the reason why we can't trust the Greeks..."Beware Greeks bearing gifts".

    Hi TF,

Yes you're right - I've just compared them, slightly more of the greek picture is visible in the book compared to the PDF. I suspect the reason for this is that the 5 rings Olympic symbol cannot really be seen in the PDF. So again I think the book version has been slightly improved over the original PDF version. I'd say the the Beware Greeks Bearing Gifts is just a reference to the Trojan Horse in the picture.

I have some ideas if you are actively on the hunt and will leave them as an early Christmas present in your inbox. Are you in the UK? And by the way, don't feel lonely on the boards quite yet (Stuck in the US with no way to look! :P
    FANDANGO! (Maybe...)

Thank you B & P for sharing your ideas. I have sent you a PM.

For everyone who is not located in the UK...
Pete Wilder is a very nice guy. If you think you know the solution then email him. He'll tell you if you are right or wrong. I think so far I have sent him about a dozen possible solutions, but alas all have been wrong. However he saved me the journeys to try and find the physical token myself.

So now living outside the UK is no excuse! Dust off your copies and get stuck in...this is a tough one!

    Happy holidays everyone

    Hi TF

I've been looking at the crucifixion page again today. You suggested 11 o'clock possibly being a lie in a previous post. I've just realised that the poem is talking about the 14 stations in the previous line. When I read about this (Stations of the Cross - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) I see that station is 11 is when he was nailed to the cross so that is probably what the 11 is, not the time of day.

    Hi X
Thanks for sharing your idea about the 14 stations. Very interesting. Any way we look at the crucifixion page the number 11 certainly is very significant. Because of the Easter clues saying "Today of all days -time is of the essence" I really think we need to look at this meaning 11 O'Clock. The whole puzzle is about time...at least that's the route I'm pursuing at the moment.
    Happy holidays everyone!

    Hi Truthfinder

Saw you've posted again recently, glad to see you're still working on this. I take a look now and again. You mentioned a while ago about possible red herrings on the cobble stones of the fire of london picture. I'd always assumed that was what they were but was just looking at that PDF version zoomed in and realised they are rats. So, as far as I can tell the only red herring is on the pyramids picture - perhaps meaning we ignore that picture.

    HI X
Well I'll be darned! You are absolutely right...they're rats! OMG I must have looked at that picture thousands of times and every time I saw a pair of fish. Just proves that a fresh pair of eyes is so important to this type of puzzle.
Thanks for the pointing this out to me X I really appreciate it.
    All the best
    TF
