Another error / visual lie is Orion's Belt (the three stars in a line) is angled the wrong way. It should be angled down to the left not to the right as shown in the Egypt picture.
Just thought I'd post something on the Oracle as it's been quiet for a long time. Anyone actively working on this puzzle? There's been another clue published on the book's website = 'Imagine this is not a puzzle and you already know where the token is located. How would you go about retrieving the token?'
This strikes me as very interesting. To me it implies that the solution is going to provide directions on how to travel to the token rather than a specific description of it's location. i.e. if the solution said the token is selotaped to the front door of No.10 Downing Street it would be of no significance how you go about retrieving it. Maybe there is another more cryptic meaning to this latest clue but the only thing I can think of is that the journey to the token is what is important. So I'm currently trying to think of ways that the author could describe the journey.
I'm getting nowhere with the facing the truth and lies in pictures aspects - and they sound important.
Yes I'm still hanging in there! This is proving to be very tough and I find myself going around in circles a bit.
I also think the last clue is interesting. It certainly departs from the style of other clues and seems more direct...maybe more helpful? The avenue I'm exploring is to do with methods of retrieval for example digging, but this hasn't really given me any blinding insights. Curiously I always thought that the method of retrieval would be obvious once the location was known, but this last clue seems to hint that this may not be the case.
To be honest I've been working on this now for almost a year and feel like I'm still on first base!!!
All the best
Glad you're still working on The Oracle. Good luck.
I'm new here and joined to do the quest for the Golden Eagle, then I spotted this. Firstly Thanks Truthfinder, what an Immense amount of work you've done.
First thoughts. Red & Green seem to be prominent in a lot of the pics, they are red=Port=left, green=starboard=right, or indeed could be west/east.
Are all the references to TIME actually compass points?isn't the compass divided into minutes? may have got that wrong.
What is the red emblem on the mans jacket (plague pic)?
Does anyone know what that white box shape with a button is?(crucifixion pic).
GARSTT=start G???, G is 9th letter,9-0-clock?east? , also, in the text on the page before the roman pic, there is one instance where it is shown as GARSST??
Capitalisations e.g.HYPERDRIVE clues do you think? I can't anagram that to anything meaningful, or is it a code, clue 3 mentions breaking a code.
Clue 14 to me brings to mind a whirlpool. Has anyone an opinion on the triangle in the greek pic?
I've only had the book 3 days so haven't done much with it, looking forward to joining in. It would be nice to crack this.
Good to see someone else joining the Oracle hunt. That box on the crucifixion picture is strange - have no idea what it is. Perhaps more of it was visible on the original artwork but when it was cropped for book it was lost. I doubt it is important if that is the case. The red on the man's jacket in plague picture is just a handkerchief as far I can tell.
I've been working on this for a long time and there's still several of the pictures that I cannot see any "lies" or "deliberate mistakes" on. e.g. Russia, Romans, Oracle.
Welcome! Nice to see you here, it's great to have another pair of eyes and a sharp brain working on this...we need it!
I've read the Oracle hundreds of times and I'm always amazed at the things my brain misses! You pointed out the mis-spelling of GARSTT as GARSST. Brilliantly spotted...I'd never noticed that before. Thanks for pointing it out...not sure what it means but as we are looking for lies and mistakes I'm sure it has some relevance.
You mentioned the block / box with the button. My thoughts on this are that it's some sort of anchor point. By this I mean it looks like a heavy stone block that maybe a rope is tied to. I think it is used in the line drawing phase of the puzzle as a point of reference...something solid that can be used as a fixed point. Of course I might be completely wrong!
Your ideas about red and green are very valid and I've had similar thoughts myself. I think they maybe stop and go signals. Green means your on the right path red means the wrong path. In the text there is reference to different colour levers and controls. Red is for Space and green is for Time, there is also a blue lever that controls Gravity. The boys also go downstairs to play snooker and these colour snooker balls are worth certain point values (Red is 1, Green is 3 and Blue is 5)
Talking about "controls" there is a mention in the text of using T and V as fine controls what is your take on this?
Yeah...Clue 14 I think it's really crucial and have no real idea of what it means...ripples in a pond...age rings on a tree stump...a BBC sitcom from years ago!!! Who knows...
The clue that seems really really out of place is the "matter, anti-matter" question...do you have any thoughts?
So many questions...welcome to the frustration of "The Oracle"
Good luck & Happy Hunting...
All the best
Forgot to talk about the Greek triangle...
This is an obvious mistake and we are looking for mistakes and lies. It is a visual depiction of Pythagoras' theorem but is wrong...if sides 1 and 2 are correct then the long side should be the square root of 5 not 3. The trouble is we are told to "Beware of Greeks bearing Gifts"... is it too obvious, is this a gift to beware of???
All the best
Suec you really have me thinking about this misspelling of GARSTT.
Did you notice that on the same line there is another misspelling? It says "...we're not going out of site of the GARSST." Site is wrong this should be sight.
All very interesting....hummmm
PS Of course the biggest spelling mistake is of the word "WOMAN" in the Jesus picture frame this should be "WOMEN" ....A and E... Albert Enstein!!! What do you think?
Finally I feel I may have made some actual progress on this puzzle I think I have found the reason for the lies in 6 of the pictures, for 3 more I have a possible answer but it might just be a case of me forcing them to fit my idea for solution. The other 2 I don't understand at all. The funny thing is that the 2 I don't understand at all are 2 of the most obvious lies. i.e. the pied piper in the Plague picture and Orion's Belt (or the order of the pyramids) in the Egyptian picture. So far my ideas for using the lies has been fruitless but I'm still reasonably confident I am onto something - hope it doesn't turn out to only be a red herring.
TF - that matter/anti matter clue has always puzzled me - the only thing that seems to fit with the rest of the clues is maybe it's talking about 2 opposites - i.e. maybe hinting at truth and lies. Did you have any more thoughts on the last clue about how to retrieve the token. The more I thought about it the more I think the author may just be hinting that you need to navigate to the token - which repeats the message given in clue 3.
Good luck in your searching. Apologies for not sharing my progress at the moment - I want to explore more fully on my own.
