It could be Mallowmars. The "H" does appear to be cut off. Good catch.

On the opposite page - a few thoughts on the cereal bowl. The way the milk has splashed up, I see the shape of a ladle (maybe I just think I see this because the word seemed to come up in some anagrams I played with), the spoon itself, waves and marshmallows.

When I fed Ladle-Spoon-Waves-Marshmallows into the anagram website, one option that came up was:

    Ammo-Rope-Shovel-Walls-and-Law

Maybe this is an instruction regarding what to take along when you think you've discovered a dig site!

Remember Sara that the images I posted were some of the original drawings, not the ones that made it to print.

    Kit said this earlier, too:
The B68 bus in Brooklyn runs from Windsor Terrace/Prospect Park to Brighton Beach/Coney Island.

I get Mallowmars too. Distribution of them is limited to NY/NJ and only October to March. Does this place Gus/Ternky Towers? Matches with the B68 bus.

    Try Mallowmarsh.

As in 'read marshmallow from right-to-left'. Go to yonder cereal bowl, carry a straight edge and do exactly that.

Won't do any good until you pair the grocery list with another clue in that book, namely the entryway or the CANOPY.

Let me know what you think.

By the way, I've come to the realization I didn't give that book enough credit, and I gave it a fair amount.

'23 Glyph St' is two different puzzles; I originally figured out only one.

'Glyph' means 'rune'. The 23rd letter of the alphabet is W.

    Anagram W RUNE ST.

RUT NSEW is a puzzle that means HOLE DIRECTIONS.

The book gives you the 'directions' to find a gem.

The second solution, the one you take into the word puzzle gauntlet is this:

'23 Glyph St'. The 23rd state is MAINE, which is abbreviated ME. ME = I. The glyph for 'I' is that dratted EYE.

The word EYE begins the word puzzle gauntlet.

Without realizing the significance, I had already been introduced to the concepts of using the numbers of states, the importance of an 'eye' being connected to 'hole directions', and the whole word puzzle stuff.

Makes me slap my forehead in retrospect.

    Keep on keepin' on,

    Doc

    Default Milk puddles

The altered version (the one in the book) of the cereal bowl milk-puddles is rather close to the shape of the Hawaiian islands.
