    Default Crystal or stone?

Why does page 81 read :
"Exposed to the sun, poisoned by his own potions, he would turn to stone, just like the trees and Forest Creatures" ????
    and
    Page 82:

"Within a fortnight that tree that holds you will turn to stone."

    Why stone and not crystal??

    This is confusing me

A crystal could be considered a type of stone, maybe? I know that people talk about gems that way.... as in, looking for a perfect stone, etc.

    Perhaps this is why: http://www.northern.edu/natsource/earth/Petrif1.htm

    What Is Petrified Wood?

The word, to petrify, literally means, "turn to stone." Petrified wood, then, is wood that has turned to stone. The English
word is similar to the Greek (piedra) and Latin (pietra) words for stone.

    Also found this of interest:

Often, petrified wood is found in large accumulations where the trees evidently grew, died and later petrified. These in situ ,
(in place), assemblages of petrified wood are called petrified forests. Usually, they are managed by either the Federal
Government, (i.e. the Petrified Forest of Arizona), or State Government, (i.e. the Ginkgo Petrified Forest in Washington state).
The only token I found was SQUAT!!!
